I think Warnock deserves some criticism today for playing down the value of the Cup and saying he would rest players. No wonder only 5k attended and the players picked couldn't be added. What have we got to look forward to this season? avoiding relegation?I won't be attending many games, apart from the Wales matches!

You have the attendance wrong there Annis.

It was 5199 not 5911.

Re: " I was actually Appalled by that "

Sun Jan 08, 2017 5:36 pm

It doesn't matter what side City put out, the eleven that started are seasoned professionals, but today I saw no professionalism from them, Bamba and Ralls aside. That performance deserved non payment to the players. The one thing every pro should do is give 100% every time, and that didn't happen today.

Those people who say that the cup don't matter obviously didn't go to the 2008 cup final and how much it meant. As you may know I no longer attend games but to watch that rubbish leaves me so angry with the players who just didn't give a monkeys.

Also I will say that Fulham were superb and knocked the ball around with ease.

Re: " I was actually Appalled by that "

Sun Jan 08, 2017 5:40 pm

Annis, I agree with some of your points, but to say Fulham are/were "ordinary" is absolutely absurd. They play great football, as they did today.

Playing long balls to Lambert is silly, as he cant chase them. We have to either play differently when he's in our team, or not play him, as simple as that.

Bennett was just up against a player who had his number. It's football, it happens.

Our new signing DID look worrying though, agreed. I'd like to think he was out of position though?

He set the team up awfully today and the new signing he brought in was abysmal. He is a good manager but he is also very good at shifting the blame - which many seem to lap up. Currently Warnock is even more to blame than the players if you ask me, it is his job to fire the players up and make good tactical decisions, currently he doesn't seem to be doing either.

Have to agree,if Trollope was still in charge he would have slaughtered and not the players!

I agree Lambert is a great player getting on the end of crosses but never has been able to chase

We were poor today, but I think Fulham deserve more credit than you give them.
They passed the ball around well, looked a good team.
Bennett had a poor game, but he hasn't had many poor games for us, think he is a good player.
Lambert is good at holding up ball and getting on end of crosses, never has been a player of pace, still think if he use him correctly he will deliver.
Halford poor, but he was played out of position.
Huws was waste of space.

It's not the score that appalled me it was the team performance over all and the majority are first team players on a lot of wages.

If I was Neil Warnock I would want rid of the majority of them, even Joe Bennett who has been quite solid so far this season looked like he did not want to be out there.

Rickie Lambert biggest waste of money this season, I don't just mean to single two out as the majority of City players were awful.

New signing Halford was today, virtually a waste of space, hopefully we will see a massive improvement in him, but going by today no wonder Rotherham gave him away.

How was an ordinary Fulham was able to control the game so easy?

There was no fight, passion, togerthness and it was as though they never wanted to be there?

I AM SHOCKED AS THATS NOT LIKE A NEIL WARNOCK TEAM?

I don't disagree at all but I take the view we can't really afford the luxury of an FA Cup run this season so I'm glad in a way that it's out of the way, although I would have taken a win if it had gone that way.

Taking into account NW's pre-match comments about 'warning the fans in advance' I get the feeling he thinks the same way. Would have taken a win if it came along but is not really that bothered by losing.

That said I hope next season we again start taking cup competitions seriously if only to raise some much needed funds.

Unfortunately we are suffering from the business done by our previous managers of late. Today as far as I am concerned proved that.

This was a time for our fringe players to make a mark. They failed to do that. Why? Perhaps not good enough or the setup was wrong. In fairness to them some of the blame must be put on the setup but I wonder if although in a new situation they failed to do what was asked.

Correct Ian, this is most of the team we have put together in the last 3 years and frankly they were awful.

Also, to slightly defend Bennett (although he did have a mare), I believe Warnock got it all wrong today. The full backs had 0 support and we're left 1 on 1 too many times, a player like their winger should be doubled up on but Warnock didn't identify that before the game or change it early enough.

That aside, I thought the general desire and effort was piss poor. But it was half expected after what Warnock said about this fixture the other day wasn't it?

Jack, they can say what they want, there was no need for City to play that bad, it's not the result,it's the diabolical performance.

Your right Annis but we can't right Bennett off from one game as many seem to be

Kyle,
Fulham are 10th in the Championship, they are not top two or in the play-offs.

They have not set the Championship alive so far this season,so for me 10th in the Championship makes you an ordinary Championship side.

Personally I would get rid of Rickie Lambert,he has cost us a fortune.

As to Joe Bennett he will come back stronger and better under Warnock :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Halford, Hmmmmm?

I don't think it is unfair on trollop I was never happy with trollop even when people thought he was improving things under slade as I thought when slade went all his gang should have went too mainly trollop but the welsh team in the euros and trollop being there over shadowed it all including the terrible swap of Malone for Richards as I felt Malone got unfair attacks on here too. Huws couldn't get in the wigan team and Lambert was a panic buy but we already had big strikers with no pace we needed a striker with pace.

Bennett I fear is no better than Declan john certainly not better than Fabio or Malone sadly all left backs food going forward but not great at defending.

Murphy yes one signing we all thought was a mad one and turns out a good one but that is because of his terrible loan signing of amos.

Today Bamba was really trying his best and was the only player who can sleep tonight knowing he did his best but knowing him he will be upset the team lost watching him celebrate pilks winner against wolves proved to me he is here for the club as well as himself not seen that from another player at city

Interestingly, Warnock didn't look like he was bothered on the sidelines either. I get the feeling a sense of apathy shrouded the build-up to this game. That's no excuse for players to play so poorly. These players should have been fighting tooth and nail to prove a point. It's always difficult putting a team of players together that don't play regularly and making it click though. Still, I think our fans are right to have expected more. It took a decent effort for so many to turn up so early to watch a scratch team play. They should have been rewarded with more of a performance.
