Yup woodie spot on , remember the keep Newport county alive game at ninian park s.wales v Man Utd .
Enjoyed lots of games over the county with my father over the social club side by the speedway garage downwind of two stroke engine fumes , grew up went to Cardiff got the buzz , was a major step up , then away games oh what fun we had eh .

Was stood on the bank at somerton park when we played them with my father and all his mates smiling to myself as I recognised loads of Cardiff around us ,and city housed in both sides of the Cromwell end swear there where more Cardiff on that bank than in the way end. Lols

Not in the seventies they didn't. I remember Cardiff walking unopposed all over Newport and taking the Cromwell end in a mid week welsh cup game circa 1975. On the train back everyone was laughing at how weak county's mob were.

You obviously perceive our supporters in a bad light. You get a lot of us wrong. We have a mostly respectful and passionate group of supporters and most have let go of the rivalry from the 70s and 80s. The biggest bitterness today exists from the number of people from Newport who support City over County. For me that's a tough one to swallow. I would certainly like to think that the "Together Stronger" message that allowed us to have the summer of a lifetime with our national team is still fresh in the mind. The loans are appreciated. You've sent far better than Swansea over recent years. I do hope all of our clubs do better to keep the national success going and we can all keep our differences aside too. Can't be without a good bit of banter of course though

Fair play excellent/sensible post :thumbright:

And I for one hated you in the 80's and so did a lot of your fans hate us,but we all move on and I don't want Newport County relegated, in fact I would rather you were challenging for promotion. :thumbright:

Fair one. The rivalry isn't relevant today. A bit hypocritical to hate you then beg for loan players on your doorstep. I hope you let us keep Healy for the rest of the season. He's developing very well with us and could play a big part in keeping us up. Can see him playing a part for you next year if he keeps getting game time. If he goes to Plymouth or Carlisle he won't get the minutes he needs.

Warnock was happy to loan Healey, but I think your manager has upset Warnock with his attitude.
More than happy for him to try and keep you up :thumbright: :thumbright:

You must be young ...County ran Shitty many times and the fans from 70s and 80s know it !

I try to stay out of hooligan discussions on here, but you are talking absolute crap, and you know it. You used to have a bit of fun on non-match days with Cardiff young uns, but on match day you were nowhere near good enough, and any honest County hooligan will admit it. Cleared your end in the 70's, early 80's your lot got chased out of your ground twice by Dai H and co.
Home game at Ninian early 80;s you bought 150 fans, who hesitated getting into 5 of us by the old Empire Pool. You were nothing, can't believe I've bit to what must be a wind-up post!

It happens, I didn't say they bottled it, they chased us about 10 yards in the end. We went to The Coldstream, got about 50 together and went looking, by then they'd all been wrapped up in an escort. Some of them were the same ones who turned up 30 handed and chased 10 Cardiff fans after the Preston home game, difference was that time they'd had a bellyful of ale and were a bit braver. They had their comeuppance at the next Wales game in Cardiff, I'm sure anyone who was there will be glad to admit to what happened! Pip Pip...
