I appreciate that is not the view of many on here, but that's the modern game. Trouble at football grounds has largely died away, but you give people a little bit of leeway and you get incidents like those which happened last night at West Ham / Chelsea.

I remember the 60s/70s/80s where you had to constantly have your wits about you so you didn't get trampled by some stupid pricks "steaming" into opposing fans, or pushing and shoving indiscriminately, not caring whether old are young were in the way.

Ultimately, you don't need away fans for atmosphere- just enthusiasm from a stadium full of home supporters! :bluescarf:

Sorry mate but I'm 26 and my young teenage years were in the early 00's and the banter with the away fans was big part of why I got hooked. it's nothing to do with the hooligans in the 70's and 80's. Or anything to do with fighting for that matter. Your talking shit.

Perhaps no away fans is a bit extreme.

But as I head towards the 50th anniversary of my first game, I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed the match day experience as much as I have since we moved to the new stadium. It's calm, relaxing and comfortable. Now I realise that it may be anathema to many people on this board, but many people like it. It means you can bring families safely without having to worry about their safety.

A full ground and successful team will soon generate all the atmosphere you want. I respect your opinion, but in the real world, I think that most fans think much as I do.

Respect to you as a clear city fan but with respect your age will make you like a new ground with better facilities sat down happy clapping etc. As above I got hooked on city for the singing passion and be banter with away fans. A derby every week it was wales v England. At 36 years and over 20 years following I can honestly tell u my experience of city these days is half as good as what it was. Nothing to do with hooligans or fighting just modern football has changed the whole experience. Many of my friends don't go or only odd game these were all season ticket holders but all say match day experience is not as good anymore.

If Nash won't consider then maybe we need a new stadium manager Choo!

Fair enough, our opinions obviously differ drastically. But I believe we can still have a safe stadium AND good banter between fans. Is this so unrealistic? It happens at many stadiums across the country. Or have we seen West Ham and Chelsea fighting and crapped our pants? Hooliganism is dead in South Wales.

So you are saying that it is modern day football in general that has changed the experience for you,not Cardiff City.

I don't know Wayne Nash enough personally to either agree or disagree with some of the criticism of him on here , but he does seem to have upset a few who have control of the content of this messageboard. Taking personal differences out of the argument, why would the club wish to replace a stadium manager that is implementing and overseeing its stadium policy?

Re: ' Bring the Grange End back '

Thu Oct 27, 2016 6:13 pm

I agree with Nukes. If we switched ends and the club released a statement saying that any fans f*cking about will be given a lengthy ban then that will cut all trouble out. There is no need for extra police in the stadium, it's just the club being too stubborn to give into what the fans want.

The club are listening to us fans and doing everything they can to re engage. Despite what some want to believe they have shown despite previous statements " the Cardiff way " etc they will still rip that up if they need to make a decision.

The club are asking what we want from match day, let's just for a minute forget any obstacles that some will put up because let's be honest it wouldn't be difficult to swap the canton with the grange end.

For me with the recent positivity, the passion being shown from the manager and players the " new era grange end " would be fantastic and a real asset for the team the club and restoring " our Cardiff " I also believe it would increase attendances.

Thoughts? Is this something people badly want or not?

This has been raised several times in the past , and I have yet to see a valid argument to support it.

Most grounds in this country and the vast majority abroad do not feel the need to have their more vociferous fans next to away fans and it has had no detrimental impact on the atmosphere at games. The atmosphere is created by the fans themselves who don`t seem to share the view of some on here (who are of course perfectly entitled to their reasoned arguments) that this switch of the type of home fans currently occupying the Grange and Canton ends of CCS would somehow improve the atmosphere.

If you just look at the atmosphere created by "ultra" type fans in Continental Europe (the likes of Germany, Spain, Italy , Poland to name just a few) it is always "loud and proud" and they don`t feel the need to "eyeball" visiting fans to generate that atmosphere.

It would be great to have this "new era" of louder home support but there is no reason why it can`t happen in its current location. Others can do it at most football grounds , so why should CCFC fans be any different?

As a former Grange ender at Ninian I can tell you that the atmosphere was created because of the need to outsing the visiting fans right next to us and in so doing the extra noise made us the 12th Man and spurred our team on. The problem in the new stadium is that the Canton stand can't really hear what the away fans are singing so consequently there is no banter and no need to raise the noise levels. Put Canton lads next to the visitors with a sensible no mans land segregation and you listen to the difference. I think this will be implemented in the near future and it's just another step forward on the Club re engaging with its supporters. Guarantee this will bring a lot of fans back too.

You are spot on, of course trying to outshine the away supporters will create a better atmosphere

This could easily be done, who would have thought a few years ago, we would be back in Blue with Warnock as manager and talk of the red seats changing to blue, plus all the other positive moves from the club.

The board seem to be listening and do seem to want to improve the match day experience and bring back the fans. It makes sense the club and fans are coming back together, and Warnock would want to improve the backing to help the team.

We should press for this, everyone would benefit, if they want to improve the match day experience, which I feel they do this needs to be considered !!!

Short answer is yes.

Do it properly, just as now VT and co have now brought in NW after learning hard FC Business lessons. Ask him if not us how it should be in his expert view.

Then, look after our amazing but unappreciated and now dwindling away support. A token mention in dispatches but wholly ignored and still taken for granted. They are the soul of our club.

It will never happen but I would love to see a clear plastic screen/fence put up between the away stand and the Grange end and move the family stand to the Canton. Then the mother of all dreams would be the seats taken up and safe standing put in. Would settle for safe standing in the Canton as I think this is more likely.

I'm amazed the powers that be at the CCS think it's ok for families and kids to have to sit and suffer next to the away fans who constantly stand and shout all sorts of abuse. They could shift the family stand up in to the top tier of the new stand or into the grandstand if they had any brains....

I guess both and Cardiff city have fallen into modern football. Simply need stadiums do this but the facts are Mr Nash is the Stadium manager. Annis has evidenced he tried to suggest keeping our vocal fans together and this was laughed out...banter between home and away fans is great this does not have to be violence at all. So how do all those other clubs in all those other countries manage to generate a great atmosphere? They don`t seem to need to rely on "banter".Why can`t CCFC fans make that extra noise themselves? Who cares what the away fans are singing? Why not just concentrate on songs and noise generally in support of the team?
If you are correct in saying that singing can`t be heard from one end of the stadium to the other , then switching fans from one end to the other just means a different half of the ground can`t hear them. What is the priority , to have a singing contest with away fans or generating noise in support of the team we all support?

You say "Who cares what the away fans are signing?" Didn't you see Antonio Conte last weekend? Can't you understand that sometimes, fans need to "bounce" off one another to create an atmosphere?

Sort the red seats out.

Switch the family end.

Safe standing area behind the goal next to the away fans.

West Ham ain't doing us no favours at the moment but they are having trouble every game now and that includes. Them fighting each other as well.

You haven't done the argument for switching ends at the ground any favours at all. Indeed you have shown why the club should oppose it strongly. In case it hasn't registered why, your argument is that the atmosphere should change so that away fans can "enjoy" being shit scared.

It's what makes some grounds better to visit. I know I enjoy away's that are a tad "spicy"

Exactly do you as an away fan want to go to a soulless bowl, and with the singers so far away you would need binoculars ? No you want atmosphere and banter with the home fans. I ain't talking about scrapping with each other I'm on about banter and getting an atmosphere.

I asked earlier in this thread how it is that clubs that are renowned for a tremendous atmosphere can do this without putting the more vociferous home fans next to the away fans. No one has even attempted to answer the question.

In the new Cardiff City Stadium

http://www.annisabraham.co.uk/2016/10/2 ... -end-back/ :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I didn't mention signing at all. I have no idea what facilities the club provides for its deaf supporters.

The club could not put in safe standing terracing as it is not legal in England and Wales.

When it is, which is probably several years away yet, I am sure the club will give it serious consideration

What clubs are these? European clubs? Different culture, different breed of fans - ultras. we haven't got an organised group of ultras. Ccfc fans habe always thrived on the competition and banter with away fans. It's nothing to do with other clubs..

No, not just European clubs. How many clubs in the Premier or Football Leagues have away fans sections next to the most vociferous home fans?

A tremendous atmosphere is created on the continent because there are safe standing areas in the stadiums and the stewards leave them to it.

Name a single English club who's able to create a consistent, tremendous atmosphere in a new, modern stadium without having the away fans next to them to bounce off? Crystal Palace get an atmosphere going as they have their "ultras" section and the noise travels much better around an old enclosed stadium like Selhurst Park compared to an open, modern stadium like ours. The same can be said about Portsmouth's Fratton Park.

But in a new, modern stadium like ours, the noise levels don't travel around as well. It's not just our stadium, it's every modern stadium. The design is different, the stadiums are more open, the sound doesn't echo around and it's obvious we need help. Little kids get intimidated stood next to away fans, so it's a stupid idea having the ends the way they are anyway. Why do you think the Family stand is always the most empty stand in our stadium?

We need help to get the old Ninian Park atmosphere back and the only way the atmosphere and overall match day experience will get better is by swapping the ends around. Maybe the family stand won't be half empty all the time then. Parents will feel more encouraged to bring their kids, the atmosphere will improve and everyone will be happy. Everyone knows it makes sense and you should see it makes sense as well.

Cardiff fans are allowed to stand with minimal steward intervention in the Canton Stand.

What about the atmosphere at the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle,Sunderland as just three off the top of my head?

Swapping ends is NOT the only way to get atmosphere improved. " Everyone" doesn't know it makes sense. More think it doesn't than do based on a survey the club did a few seasons ago .

The Ninian Park atmosphere is overrated by many now looking back with rose tinted glasses. At times it was great, but more often not so in my own personal experience of over 40 years there.
