Cardiff City's move for Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty looks to be off amid growing expectation they'll secure Rickie Lambert's signature by the 11pm deadline.

Yesterday, it was being touted that the Bluebirds were in advanced talks with the Northern Ireland international but the transfer looks to have hit the buffers.

Around noon today, the 28-year-old was being linked with a move to Palermo in Italy and since then it has looked increasingly unlikely that he will be rocking up at the Cardiff City Stadium.

It's been a busy old day down at Wigan Athletic, hot on the heels of welcoming Adam Le Fondre and Nathan Byrne the club have announced the arrival of 21 year old striker Kaiyne Woolery from local rivals Bolton Wanderers on a three year deal.

Woolery started his career at non-league Maidstone United before moving to Conference club Tamworth from where he was signed by Bolton in August 2014. He made his Bolton debut coming off the bench to replace, ironically enough, Adam Le Fondre in April 2015.

Speaking of this latest move boss Gary Caldwell said - ''Kaiyne is someone we are really excited to bring to the club''

''We have been looking at him for some time and been impressed by what we have seen. He is still young but has great potential. He has pace, an eye for goal and we are looking forward to being able to see him develop in a Wigan Athletic shirt.''
