And some on here will say another bit of good business by City again, well if we don't make top 6 by May 2017,all these sales will 100% not turn out to be good business.

City need to re-invest money in to our squad ASAP starting with a good striker :thumbright: :thumbright:

But you're looking at that from a negative point of view Annis.

Could easily say that if we make the top six, then this will be seen as good business.

Ned, If you keep getting rid of Quality, how can I feel positive? Rem Fabio and Gunnarsson are my two favourite players.

I hope declan john dont read your comments annis

I will be positive when I see some quality new signings :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I suspect that if the sale of AG does go through, then its only because we can't shift the likes of Macheda, Dikgacoi, & Le Fondre.

Talk about carrying dead wood, those three alone have the potential to relegate us, & I hope the Club & players come up with some mutual agreements pretty soon!

I didn't mind Fabio going as I though £2m in the final year of his contract, with John now being given a chance was actually good business.

However Gunnarsson I feel pretty sad about;

- he's a fans favourite and most of now having Iceland as our 2nd international team
- he had always give everything for City and fans have always respected him for it
- he is a midfielder with some bite and aggression which I see lacking without him

This is not the start to the season that I was hoping for :(

I agree, & he's still got two years left on his contract.

Last few seasons he seemed to find his way to the bench quite often. We have to many similar midfielders. Again I think this is good business by the club.

Gunnarson plays with a lot of passion and heart. Very brave player and captained his country well in the tournament.
A born leader and a hell of an asset with his long throw.

However,

He has not been a regular for two seasons now and i feel not in the top 4 central midfield at our club. With the possibility of Emyr Huws as well, i feel this is the right move for all concerned.

No, I'm not soft enough to believe much of this money will be re invested in players as the club is still losing too much money every week.

Good luck Gunnarson, thanks for the memories (if you go)

I agree that the money should be reinvested but I have a bit of concern about the ASAP bit. How many duds have we signed over the past few years?

That has to be down to not investigating the target player enough. We are building up a nice little war chest the last thing I want is to see it all wasted again.

now is probably the right time to cash in on him IMO, as i doubt he will ever be worth more than he is now. yes he tries, but he lacks quality, i think its worth trying to sign someone else.

its clear we are now being run on a tighter budget so these difficult decisions have to be made. we are now having to live within our means a bit more, and that means selling players to balance the books. clearly, you'd get rid of the other dead wood before selling first teamers, but the reality is that no-one will pay for the likes of macheda etc.

Completely agree with everything you've said. There's talk that Emyr Huws will replace Gunnarsson but Aron is by far a better player! Fans getting blinded by how we need more Welsh in the squad. :?

Aron Gunnarsson is a leader, warrior and will give his everything. He was outstanding in the Euros and his long throw in could be pivotal in getting us a few late goals! A major mistake if he is to leave. He could be an integral part to our team.

Not a regular under Russell Slade what a joke   Allan, How did Gunnarson perform in the Euros? ? ?

He's not been the best for us Annis. His passion and workrate is good but i believe 2 million is a good price aslong as we reinvest..
As of the euros yes he did well but cant always judge a player on them alone. Look at HRK for instance you would swear he's up there with bale and ronaldo but struggled to get in the reading side

Agree wasn't at best last season can't keep blaming managers for players poor form! Played well at euros maybe but then so did hrk and reading got rid of him for nothing,

I don't think losing Gunnarson is a big issue.

I think the loss of Fabio was a bit more worrying from a playing perspective but made sense financially.

Gunnarson simply doesn't have the pace/sharpness required to do well in the crowded central midfield areas and we can ill afford to have players who can generate a £2m transfer fee sitting on our bench.

Unlike many you could never fault his passion and willingness to put his body on the line for the shirt but this is a good move for him and us. I can't see him being a regular in any top half Championship team but if he proves me wrong I would applaud him as he's sweated blood for us over the years :thumbright:

His appearances at the euros doesn't really matter. He has been here long enough to judge and for me not good enough in either box, doesn't cover the defence as well as he should and doesn't get forward well enough. Together with poor passing 2m is a good bit of business for a solid better.

He hasn't been a guaranteed starter for a long time and we have many options in the middle still. It's a not brainer when trying to make cut backs.

Been poor for a few years now, wasn't exactly brilliant even when he was playing fairly well for us.

Will be a shame to lose him from a fan perspective but footballing wise it seems like a no brainer to take 2 mil for him.

Wont be a big loss, Average player at best who always gives his all but lacks quality and pace.2m good business for the club for somebody who cant get in the side apart from cup games.

Sad as I liked Fabio and Gunnerson and felt Slade should have used Gunnerson more but then he was poor tonight and if Norwich seen that the price will come down.

I do not blame fabio going to the prem and I wish him luck he was a player that gave his all and was a really decent and nice guy and would always give his time to supporters
