That is not the best way to motivate someone, and could make for an uncomfortable working relationship. I would expect a statement like that to follow the sacking of someone and not made about someone who has just been given a responsible position within that business.

I personally think he's only been given this role as he was Tan's appointment , so he's saving face a bit but I think that Tan got on well with Slade and wanted to give him something as a thank you

"It was not a difficult decision to move Russell to the Head of Football role. Our position has always been clear, that whoever is manger or head coach should at a minimum take us to the play-offs.

"This squad cost £28 million to assemble. Vincent's position is clear, any lower than the play-offs is a failure. He is not putting £30 million a year into the business to not succeed, any businessman would want to take this team to the Premier League.

"We don't do charity, there's a job to be done and we've briefed Russell. That job has started.

"Moving players out is worth millions and with an honest guy like Russell in charge that will be done properly.

In fairness to Choo he ends with a nice compliment to RS but in my opinion the rest is harsh as we were 1 decent forward short of making the playoffs. Losing Jones & Mason, and then the left field transfer embargo, just as we are about to sign Tony Watt sort of cut the legs from underneath RS so a nice bland statement like "We would like to thank RS for his efforts but at this time the club would like to try something different" would have been more appropriate.

Also why is VT still putting £30m a year into the club, is that true or just embellishment? because if it is true then the club still has a massive problem and if far from financial stability.

Slade was tactically all wrong. When we needed to be pushing forward we'd play deep and defensively then when we just needed to see games out there'd be substitutions that just unsettled the balance and before we knew it we'd thrown three points away and were lucky to come away with one. So most definately Slade was not the man for me. However....Choo's comments undermine a position that they've created for Slade.
In terms of a new manager, just my opinion, Bellamy isn't ready to be thrown in as a number 1 just yet. Maybe bring him in as part of the coaching/backroom staff alongside an experienced manager and let him develop his craft with a view of him being number 1 in the future...but not straight in as manager (just like what MUFC have done with Giggs)

Brilliant and spot on by choo. Total failure.

Choo on the button

Slade out of his depth and he failed - simple as that

Credit to Tan offering him a sideways job at best - I expect Slade to look for a role in lower leagues at some point soon

Our attack looked much better without Jones and Mason imo. Also, we could have signed watt well before the embargo but the club said no.
