Re: BREAKING NEWS: RUSSELL SLADE NO LONGER CCFC MANAGER

I don't want Bellers, I want Warnock or Pullis, but it looks like a rookie Manager set up with a head of football........

Poor old bugger, they hardly ever work out, he'll be gone by the end of the season is my prediction.

Well done Russ, you did a good job, under the circumstances, fingers crossed we don't pick another inexperienced Manager like Ole

I don't get the Trollope link, according to most here, it's Trollope that's been doing the job with Russ taking the credit all season, if that was true, it would be the same set up wouldn't it ???

I can't see it staying the same with theses two, I expect a change, but I hope we go for a proven experience Manager rather than a gamble on a famous name who's never Managed ???

I predicted this months ago, at the same time stating that it also made little sense (as others have done here today). Slade's recruitment has not been great, with far more misses than hits, and he's rarely given an opportunity to players who were signed over his head - so how can this man now be responsible for our scouting set up and new signings?

He also has an absolutely shocking track record when it comes to developing our youth, but now he's in charge of all football matters at our club, which includes youth development? How does this make sense to anyone?

That said, the positive from this is that it will mean our next manager likely won't deal with Tan directly, which probably makes us more appealing on paper. Can't say that dealing with Tan's yes man would be any easier mind!

Slade has already shown he can steady the team but he's being replaced for his shortcomings. I think he's been given a different role so that he can step in again if the new manager doesn't work out. That suggests there's an element of risk with the new manager. Inexperience maybe? This just screams out Bellamy to me

Completely agree with most of the comments.

Love him or hate him, the man has done a good job. Russell Slade has stabilised what was a sinking ship. :ayatollah:

Thank you Russell for directing Cardiff City FC a small step in the right direction. The best progress we have made in years has been thanks to Slade.

Nervous but exciting times to see what's next for the Bluebirds. Let's go again for promotion next season. :bluescarf:

Had to check the calender when I heard the news to see if it was Christmas or my birthday!

Hopefully the days of weak, insipid performances like last Saturday can be a thing of the past and we can get a manager who knows how the Championship works.

:sladeout: Warnock in!

Whatever happens well done Russell Slade, you did a good job in difficult circumstances :bluescarf:

You know something we don't regarding Trollope Carl?

A good move all round in my opinion.

One thing to add to the comments above... a lot of people slating Slade for not playing youth but one thing he has done has ensured those players close to the first team but not quite ready to break through have had plenty of game time out on loan.

For me this is looking after the youth in a much more sensible fashion than leaving them playing under 21 football.

A perfect case in hand being Kennedy who despite having bags of talent couldn't handle the schedule of league 1. Perfect example of a young player spending all his time wrapped up in cotton wool in a premier league youth academy.

Oshilaja, Healy, John, Harris and o'Sullivan will all be that one step closer to being good enough to play Championship football as a result of the first team football they've gained this season.

Very, very few players are good enough to step straight up from dev squad to first team at this level.

Great post and well said.

Of course we want to see our academy and DVP players break through but I empathise with any professional football manager at the higher levels whose personally pressurised first priority is survival, stabilisation and promotion who feel they have to bring in talent.

It's better to be loaned out (or even leave) in order to get regular first team experience in order to progress to the next level from U21 as opposed to stagnating and hoping for a breakthrough.

I think it's going to be increasingly often that the former with those pressures combined with financial limitations will look for the latter.

Thanks slade. You've pulled the club back in the right direction however we need a new person to take us on further now as many city fans do not believe you are capable of doing that.

We won't be getting an established elite manager, but i don't worry about that.

I think a lot of you are panicking for no reason. Recruitment even for a club like Southampton is hit or miss. What Slades problem was as the 1st team coach he thought he could replicate his L1 tactics in the championship and bought players he thought could reproduce them. Ultimately it never worked.

Vinnys problem is he got stiffed by the transfer process due to in Ole’s case a clueless random we are Man u scattergun approach and something allegedly a little more self serving in Moody/Malky. We will make future transfer mistakes but they will at least be more transparent and honest ones to Vinny.

I see Slades job as an organiser. We moan about the Jacks coming onto our turf with their academies, that’s because we haven’t resourced and organised ours well enough. When you see a 12 year old Rambo you need to get the parents trust. I reckon Russ would do this.

It also allows the coach not to be dirtied by the deal making and sackings, which helps the first team coach, however experianced.

It always depends on Tan.When we went from Red to Blue we were self sufficient.. In other words,no further investment. Ask yourself who can we afford to bring in on our current season financial situation.?
