He is better than most we have had in the last ten years!
Love to see his critics name a better one!
Malone for a start
Hes even scored a better goal this season too
Malone, Super Kev, Peltier, Kennedy. All better full backs than Fabio.
Kennedy the slowest full back we have ever had! More pace in a rocking horse!
Could read the game and rarely gave away possession. Unlike Fabio.
Not much good reading while a winger is screaming past you at pace!
Next minute you will be trying to persuade me that the underapreciated Jason Bowen and Jason Fowler were more technically adept than Chris Burke.

I'm sure the likes of Paolo Maldini will agree with you.

Ross, if you are as old as I am you will know that Maldini did not lack a yard of pace! Ask your dad, I am sure Clive would agree!

Maldini had to mark wingers way quicker than him though, so did Gary Neville. But they both had the positional sense and the ability to read the game to never put theirselves in a position to allow a quicker winger to knock the ball past them and burn them for pace.
Maldini averaged just over 0.5 tackles per game during his whole career. "If I had to make a tackle, I already knew I had made a mistake".
Fabio in comparison squanders possession, gets caught out of position and then has to chase back and make a heroic tackle, which he should never have had to make in the first place. Basically, Fabio has to make so many tackles because he makes so many mistakes.
It seems Malone had an absolute shocker tonight too, Peltier (who doesn't seem to do half the running Fabio does because he doesn't make many mistakes) needs to be brought back in.

Peltier is a solid fullback but offers little, support for his winger. Sometimes as a fullback you don't have to cross the Ball, yourself but distract defenders from the winger you are supporting.
Neither Gary Nevile or Paulo Maldini were slow, they didn't have to tackle because they could cut off space due to football intelligence and great athleticism, they could close space down in key areas of the field very quickly to limit the options available to the wingers they were marking. Reading the game is all about restricting space and time at key moments, the pace to close crucial space is vital.
Just look at Rio Ferdinand, Ledley King, Des Walker, Stuart Pearce and Kenny Sansom. John Stones is pretty good at it too.
