Would be a great deal. I wouldn't mind if they put the money towards paying Langston off and putting a end to the Langston affair once and for all.

Wolves journo says nothing's been agreed

Bloody hell £3m for Mason - bite their hand off now!!!
Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:24 am
Mason makes good runs , but needs to play alongside a big, strong striker. He hasn't improved enough I'm afraid and three million would be great, as it's way over his value. Macheda is much more dangerous, but too lazy.

What people do not realize, is that £3m if true could possibly get us out of the embargo, then we maybe able to buy Watt
Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:32 am
I like Joe but I have to admit if the bid is £3 million then we should sell, its a great deal.

Wolves can confirm they are in advanced discussions with Cardiff City after making a significant bid for striker Joe Mason.

Now that would be good. £3m for Mason then we either get Watt or pay Langston off is great business in my opinion.

I do not think this will get us out of embargo thats done this window

Over the moon if we can get 3 million for him
Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:47 am
Snap their hands off. That's crazy money for Mason!!! Wolves are mental.

3 Mil is great business for us, I like Mason he is a good finisher but his all round game has stalled over the last few years. I hope the club have a good loan signing lined up to replace him. I hope this is not the start of a fire sale. Hopefully there will none of our players taken away by helicopter like Kavanagh was all those years ago.
Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:50 am
Masons poor in my opinion. Wouldnt pay 250k let alone 3 mill
Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:52 am
Will you lot shut up......Great player, sadly missed, how will we replace him?
Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:53 am
This will be better than my Betablockers for keeping my blood pressure down....

Whichever way you look at it this is a good deal for all concerned. Wolves obviously rate the player (who is a great finisher), the player gets a new start and the club make a nice profit.
If we want the transfer embargo lifted I believe we have to prove ourselves profitable over the next 6 months. Bringing £3m is a great shot in the arm especially as the club seem to have Saadi coming back and have Immers to

I doubt it will because if the rumours are to be believed, the current transfer embargo is for breaking FFP last season. The £3m received will therefore not be able to improve last seasons finances and get us out of an embargo.

Agreed

Mason is too lightweight,he was at Plymouth and hasn't really improved, take the money and wish him the best for his future.
Wed Jan 27, 2016 12:08 pm
Surely a striker will be lined up for a loan?
Wed Jan 27, 2016 12:10 pm
Good deal
He needs a fresh start
Good luck Mason

We stay under a transfer embargo until we prove to the Football League we are complying with FFP. So the £3m is a welcome addition and can only help to get it lifted for the summer transfer window.

According to this sale, it means we can bring a player in for a fee but he has to be on 75% of what Mason is on

No it doesn`t.
The transfer embargo , which cannot now be lifted until at least the end of March and so only be of benefit in the Summer 2016 transfer window , prevents the club from paying any kind of fee for a player , be it a permanent transfer fee or a loan fee.
The 75% you refer to only relates to the wages of a new player coming in where the club is up to its maximum 24 qualifying players and has let a player go to take the number below that number. So , if Joe Mason was on £10k a week , the new player could be paid no more than £7.5k a week (including national insurance and any fee paid by the club to his agent).
At the moment , the club is below its 24 limit anyway.

Cheers easy! Hasn't quite lived up to the expectations, too weak and slow to cut it as a regular. All the best though!

To get £3m for him is stupendous.

To be fair Mason had his best game of the season away at Wolves

Joe Mason deal 'now up to player himself'
QUOTE "We’ve been speaking to sources around the Mason deal and they report a £3m deal has been agreed between the two clubs, but it’s now down to the player to make a decision. Mason has scored six goals in 24 appearances for Cardiff this season."

99% of people could have told you we had no ambition when the cost cutting was announced and slade put in charge. It wasn't rocket science to work out
