All her needed do was go in with a supervisor (after the fan stopped screaming at the ref, which is not a bloody crime). BUT this steward antagonised the situation and actually when the cops took the guy out, this steward was walking around chest puffed up, laughing.
LET'S START A PETITION TO GET STEWARD CONNER MAWN, NO 57 SACKED!!
This will be for the good of the club.

Ummmm just to let you know the steward isn't called Connor Mawn, Connor Mawn is the brother of the man who was arrested.

Jon, he had been persistently abusive for some time and was warned (partly because he was sat behind a group of female supporters, I think) because some of the things he was shouting were well out of order!
When he continued, a decision was taken to remove him and a very minor scuffle broke out until a police officer calmly took him away, to his credit. The entourage of 'Response' people made it look worse than it really was
Another of the Stewards also warned another small group further over regarding their chanting towards Rotherham fans shortly after and there were a few verbals directed at him but he appeared to have pretty thick skin to be fair. You need it for that thankless job! LOL![]()
All in all, neither incident were too much to worry about but it must have looked worse than it was with the size of the group that surrounded him!
Chris I saw it from about 8 rows further back, I did not hear anything of course and if females are about there is no need to get verbal.
But what is the problem with football banter with other fans, as long as theres no trouble? ?
We need an atmosphere.

Annis, to be fair it was funny for a while and I think those around him (including me) may have inadvertently encouraged him with our laughter at some of the things that were being shouted, as in the main, it was funny and even a couple of the Rotherham players were laughing on the touchline!![]()

But (as often happens) things took a turn for the worse and some of the things being shouted were not warranted and can only be deemed 'offensive'
It was the same with the other group. Some hilarious shouts/songs until the word 'paedophile' was used and at that point a lone Steward put a stop to it quickly. I can' fault him for that and he took some 'stick' for it, too!
Like you, I love the banter; always have. It certainly adds to the atmosphere, but sometimes boundaries are well crossed and today was one of those occasions

Chris, What I am hearing from fans like you that were close by, was that the City fan went to far,but also the steward went to far. It will be the City fan who gets banned.
All I want is some good fun banter back, without it getting out of control, but Nash does not believe there should be banter with away fans and has vowed to stop it and he's virtually won and killed the stadium of atmosphere.

I worked for 5 yrs at the Millenium when the football was taken there, our approach would be a quiet word with someone who was over zealous, if he became abusive back then you'd simply let the OB do there job wether they had a quiet word or took him out. The only time a few would go in was in a snatch squad to get a persistant trouble maker and 9 out of 10 occasions this would be at Concerts not matches. Maybe some of the stewards need a refresher on how to deal with the public, be littling someone never works it just aggrivates the situ as shown by yesterday. Its never been the same since Karen died RIP she was the best on the terraces always a smile and courtious, but still took no shit .
