Perhaps we should play David Marshall up front.

After all Tan wants him scoring more goals!!!

If this goes through, will my signature become void!?
Sorry Bluebird1927 :laughing6: You were probably going to be correct come the end of the season though.

Mind you... 9 goals in 19 games could be achievable if he was actually given the game time!

If we sell the money goes into a bottomless pit. It can't be and won't be reinvested, happy days :bluebird:

Cardiff City have told Wolves they want at least £5m for Joe Mason. So won't accept £1.6m Vincent Tan wants to get as much money back as possible for the players he is letting go this window.

If the Cardiff City management think Mason is worth £5m,its little wonder this club is being run badly

Cardiff want at least £5m for Joe Mason

Cardiff City have warned interested parties that they want at least £5m for striker Joe Mason.

Wolves are said to be at the front of the queue for the striker as they look to replace Benik Afobe, but reports now suggest that it would take a substantial bid for the Bluebirds to cash in.

Mason is considered one of the club’s most prized assets, alongside midfielder Joe Ralls and Cardiff are determined to ensure they get the best price possible for both.

Report: Cardiff City set £5m asking price for Joe Mason By Barney Corkhill, : Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 22:17 Cardiff City have placed a £5m asking price on striker Joe Mason, according to reports. The 24-year-old has reportedly caught the eye of fellow Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are thought to be considering making a move during the January transfer window. However, BBC Sport reports that the Bluebirds would be unwilling to part with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international for any less than £5m. Mason joined Cardiff from Plymouth Argyle for £250,000 in 2011 and has been shipped out on loan to Bolton Wanderers on three separate occasions during his time in South Wales. However, he has become a more regular member of the first team so far this season, scoring six goals in 22 league games.

In all fairness to Mason, along with many others in the squad, the team approach, tactics and coaching do not seem geared up to get the best out of players attacking-wise. Playing in straightjackets, as someone called it, is pretty much how our team has been playing under Slade with the infrequent decent performance which frustratingly hints at the potential the squad has.

I think Mason has been directly impacted by the striaghtjecket approach and has had little or no service. When he has had chances, like one on ones with the keeper, his confidence is pretty low and he has made a hash of things. But he is a natural finisher and with confidence and a decent team around him where the ball spends much much more time in the opposition final third then I believe Mason would be a great asset and find the net frequently.

While 1.6 million seems high I am always reluctant to see players go when he evidently had a lot of potential but let down with things outside of their control.

Saying that, if I was Mason or any of the others, I would want out for 'footballing' reasons, so I could go and at least stand a better chance of reaching my potential elsewhere where there is a better attacking ethos.

If anyone thinks Mason is one of "the Crown Jewels" they can't have watched him this season.

Anything over £800k and he can go.

The new Dutchman is a strong, mobile, tall, goal scoring No. 10, basically everything Mason is not !!

Thanks for the Carlong Cup Final Joe but time to go !!!
