Out of position on a heavy pitch, he looked lost first half, with Macheda coming over to cover the left whilst Whitts drifted inside.
It wasn't a game for him, on a surface like that against a L1 side you needed to load up with workers and battlers, especially as he had no pace in front of him.
Kennedy should have started and was a rare bright spot when he came on.

Hey by the way, do you happen to be the Tim whose friends with Sion and Sam Greenaway?

Yeah I am mate.
Lovely couple.
Lived next door to them for years.

For me Whitts is done. He is just a waste of space these days. Offers us absolutely nothing in attack. He played a very ineffective sweeper role against Shrewbury FFS.

Malky ruined Whitts and for me we are better without him these days

I think Clueless is thinking he still has something to offer us in attack!

I don't think any one is saying he is in his best years are ahead of him. I don't think he is our X factor nowadays, but still our most technical.

IMO - you can have up to two luxury or class players in the team with 8 grafters, you need that class to raise you from league 1. We had to pick from Jones, Noone, pilkington, Mason & Whitts. I don't think these guys are lazy just physically poor for professional athletes, its just the way they are made. If they were better athletes they would be trebling their wages in the premier league.

Ralls does a poor Whitts imitation as we have seen over the last few weeks. He is Joe Ralls a young CM. If Malky was our manager he would not have Ralls receiving the ball off the centre halfs would he ?No, he would have him pushed right up pressing and probing, with our most technically gifted player setting the game plan & tempo. We'd sacrifice a second striker and push our line right up. Not sure he'd have Noone or Pilkington starting either.
If we can find an equally technical player who is a better athlete lets get him, but i don't think there are many around in our price bracket, that's why academy's and U-21's are so important.

As we found out so painfully in the premier league, you can't give the ball away cheaply, you have to own it. Hit and hope balls are stuff from league 1 & 2 nowadays.

Ole tried to play with all our technical or luxury players not realizing their physical limitations and we got unstuck. Slade wants 10 technically limited triers. Malky struck the correct balance, but was caught out with the lack of class in the end when we stepped up.

Its all how you see the game. I don't want to pay £400 to watch good parks footballers.

He deserves our respect :ayatollah:

I watch him closely too and players in front of him are also looking for him to play that killer pass. By the time hes seen it its dead!

I know it is 50/50. really , like i said he has served us well and deserves respect, but we have seen his best days :ayatollah:

Valid point - but Malky played him in front of the back 4 the season Cardiff won the Championship!

Also, if Whittingham plays further forwards, he won't be able to look forwards to pick out a pass. He will have his back to goal more often and get bullied by opposing centre backs.

He doesn't have the pace or trickery to receive the ball and beat players in the final third. He's much better off ghosting forwards from deep to get into a position to create or have an effort on goal.

Whittingham would be totally ineffective further forwards.
