Also i see saadi a player similar to deeney and ighalo, pace power strength and quality all their attributes. I think saadi can easily make a target man because he has strength and power, i dont think you need to be a tall striker winning headers all the time to be a succesfull target man and striker, other attrtibutes are more important imo like pace power strength good feet.

You see a lot of things for someone who's only watched a player for 20 minutes !!!

Rydogsccfc I hope you are right regarding Saadi being the answer but honestly how anybody can say he will a success is beyond me with the little any of us has seen of him playing, if I'm being honest its a bit of wish full thinking but as I stated I hope you are right or are you just :digging2: yourself a hole :sladeout:

By the way I didn't say it won't work haven't seen enough of Saadi he's been fit for 20 minutes in 4 months!!!

You're setting yourself up from a big fall if this wonder partnership doesn't come off.

I mean you've gone one further now and just said Saadi has all of Ighalo and Deeneys qualities rolled into one player. How the f**k we've managed to sign him and not a champions league team I don't know!!!

I never said that I said that Watt and Saadi could be dangerous as Deeney and Ighalo are.

Im not basing my opinion on just that 20 minutes. He looks that type of players on youtube but i know you cant judge a player really off there but im also basing my opinion on the way russell slade described him before, and slades opinon was based on extensive and thorough scouting.

Yes its a lot of ifs and buts with saadi but there seems a lot of potential with the lad i feel and if true then coupled with watt got the makings of being a potentially excellent strike pairing. Heres hoping!

The op says it's a pretty historic way by hoofing it to the big man to nod down. But we've played more football on the floor this season than we have the at 3 years put together. Malky liked hoofing it to a small player lol. Worked ok to get out of this league granted but I used to be genuinely embarrassed that we were the only team who didn't know how to pass a ball.

Or even a goalscoring number ten playing 'in the hole'. Alex Pritchard and Wes Hoolahan destroyed us last season playing this role. Watt could play on his own up front, dim probs.

Youtube  Cornelius looked like Zlatan on Youtube

Saadis yotube reel does look decent but he doesnt look like a target man who plays with his back to goal and links others. He looks better running at goal and is explosive rather than a link man.

But we cant judge on Yotube, weve been there before, so will have to see more of him.

Slade talks a load of rubbish so I never listen to what he has to say about a player especially after he mixed up Stuart O Keefe with Jedinak

As long as your tactics suit the style of your front men it doesn't matter what size they are but it doesn't hurt having a target man just to mix it up a bit. Don't know enough about saadi or the Dutch kid to make an opinion but watt is a breath of fresh air.

Is that a sarcastic comment or genuine?

Re: Big Man/Little Man

A bit of both. He said something along the lines of him playing a "big part" in Palaces survival and started 13 of the last 17 games. He started 1 game under Pulis. An FA cup game.

Oh! Didn't know that. I thought he'd played a bit more than that. I actually like the look of him when he comes on. Not seen enough yet but I was genuinely expecting big things from him this season.

BlueMagic wrote:Slade seems like he wants this strike pairing? Kind of an old prehistoric way of playing football if you ask me with a big man little man striker partnership, just launch the ball at the big man to hold up or head the ball and play the little man in to score, the type of tactics you would see deployed in park football and merthyr league football etc.

Or am i wrong in thinking this? Just wondering can people on here think of teams that use this in modern football? Give examples of the teams and players below...

If we play two small strikers up front will someone tell our captain to stop hoofing the ball down field as if Jones is still playing for us
