Excellent point Mr Curtis but some fans are so blinkered that nothing Slade does will change their view.

One swallow doesn't make spring

Yes Slade a good call yesterday but come on... It's like praising a mechanic for fixing one car out of a hundred.

He made a good call because of months and months of criticism by fans and local media for his laxk of tactics... You really want a manager who needs months of criticising before making a good decision?

Changing formation to see out a game should be mandatory.

First 45 was dire, spent it looking for the big bloke up front, no one there.

Blackburn are a team without focus.

Second 45 was saved by Noone being direct. If that's all we have god help us. As for Malone, well, he is caught out of position frequently. Fabio should start every time.

What's with the slade love in? Nothings changed, he isn't a bad manager just he's managing a club that's bonkers. Who was the guy Blackburn had a few years ago under the Venky's? Despised by their fans yet kept on to do the bidding of a club desperate to shed high earners?
Ring any bells? Don't believe he's in football at the mo?

That's him. Held in similar regard by their fans as we do to Big Al.

Had it been a new manager today, as many fans want, then fans would be singing the guy's praises but because it is Slade it seems he won't get much recognition for the win.

I haven't read any reaction on here yet but I am hoping it is nothing like what I heard on Radio Wales in the car on the way home.

Firstly it was a welcome three points today, albeit against a poor Blackburn side, Slade made changes to his team today, one was probably enforced with Kenwyne Jones heading out of the club and his other one was playing Maline ahead of Fabio.

Russell Slade was heavily criticised in October and November for the lack of chances and consequently goals so he changed his style to a more attacking way but suffered at the back, by conceding more, as a result.

I personally welcomed Malone replacing Fabio, though I enjoy watching the Brazilian marauding the touchline and his never say die attitude and commitment to the cause but he undoubtedly leaves us exposed in defence and as a defender that is not a good trait, whereas Malone offers more in terms of defence and with our best defender at set pieces, Kenwyne Jones, not in the squad, Slade maybe took that into consideration for defending corners and free kicks.

When Slade replaced Mason for Stuart O'Keefe, the moans and groans in the section of The Ninian where I sit were surprising; surprising because when we were two nil up against Burnley, fans came on here and Radio Wales questioning the manager's tactical nous, asking why we didn't put an extra man in midfield to see the game out.

Today Russell Slade played a diamond midfield with Gunnarsson at the bottom and Ralls at the tip, with a quarter of the game remains and winning one nil, he made the change and went 4-5-1, why can't fans give the man some credit at least.

Had another manager been in charge today and paired Mason and Watt together for the first time, played a diamond midfield to then change it to a 4-5-1, kept a clean sheet then I absolutely believe I would be hearing 'that's how to do it Russell Slade!!'.

I have said time and again that I am not a fan of Slade and doubt he can take us to the Premier League but I am not so bloody one eyed to be negative and critical at him just because I am not a huge believer in the guy.

For crying out loud, can't people give praise for the good things he does ?

Slade recognised that we can't keep conceding goals as much as we have been recently and went back to being more defensive today and got rewarded for doing exactly that.

We want entertainment, and today was not a spectacle of football at its best I agree, but after the recent run of poor results we needed three points, the manager got those points and kept us in the hunt for the play offs.

Don't be so blinkered City fans and see things for what they are, do you think Slade wants to get rid of a player of the level of Kenwyne Jones?

I don't think he does but circumstances at the club, or the owner rather, dictates who goes and when.

Slade is on record saying he wants to keep his best players and losing your top scorer from last season would be a huge blow to the manager.

We got two tough away games up next in the league, Hull and Wolves respectively, I hope we can get something from both games though I don't expect too much if I am honest so there will be opportunities for those knives to be sharpened yet again but at least give the man this result to celebrate at least.

It would appear Mr.Slade has acquired a new convert, not just any convert mind you,but someone of your standing on here, will give Slade so much comfort I'm sure

most fans thought slade was a poor appointment and couldn't wait for him to fail. thats still the case - he's a decent manager who is doing a decent job, and the style of football we play here is a million times better than under malky.

he's only ever 2 or 3 games from the fans giving abuse to the manager and players, which is a poor situation to be in. best fans in the world? my arse. many need to have a long hard look at themselves.

It doesn't matter what Slade does he has to be removed because the fans don;t like him.

I don;t understand why there's any debate on this front, he's only two or three games away at any time from calls for his head. That's not sustainable.

We all need a manager we can get behind, like Malky was at the beginning.

It doesn't matter what Slade does at any point of the season as we won;t go up under him and he won;t win the fanbase over.

Total bollocks, better than Malky you are having a laugh, he is decent manager in the lower leagues, yesterday game was poor against a very poor team that most teams in this league would have hammered, even Bolton beat them. Punting long balls to Watt and Mason won't work.
I don't hate or dislike the man and i want him to take us up and if he does would be the first to take my hat off to him, however i just don't see it happening. Slade seems to be a nice guy and i wish him well but get real Swampy Malky took us to Premier League and Slade has won what ? :ayatollah:

Carl

I answered some of your points below, I hope he takes us up, but just can't see it

Firstly it was a welcome three points today, albeit against a poor Blackburn side, Slade made changes to his team today, one was probably enforced with Kenwyne Jones heading out of the club and his other one was playing Maline ahead of Fabio.

Agree so far a win is win but don't agree with your Fabio comment,

Russell Slade was heavily criticised in October and November for the lack of chances and consequently goals so he changed his style to a more attacking way but suffered at the back, by conceding more, as a result.

2 goals up 3 times and pegged back, is that good management

I personally welcomed Malone replacing Fabio, though I enjoy watching the Brazilian marauding the touchline and his never say die attitude and commitment to the cause but he undoubtedly leaves us exposed in defence and as a defender that is not a good trait, whereas Malone offers more in terms of defence and with our best defender at set pieces, Kenwyne Jones, not in the squad, Slade maybe took that into consideration for defending corners and free kicks.

Fabio is way better, he also gets us Fans going, however nothing against Malone

Nice to see Mason get a goal, should get his confidence back, he has been poor this season but i like him and would love him to do well, he wasn't caught off side today either, so well done Joe

By playing one player upfront alone invites the opposition to attack, however due to poor opposition we got away with it today

I have said time and again that I am not a fan of Slade and doubt he can take us to the Premier League but I am not so bloody one eyed to be negative and critical at him just because I am not a huge believer in the guy.

WE want him to do well, you don't think he will be a success either ?

For crying out loud, can't people give praise for the good things he does ? Well done Slade

Slade recognised that we can't keep conceding goals as much as we have been recently and went back to being more defensive today and got rewarded for doing exactly that.

Blackburn were rubbish

We want entertainment, and today was not a spectacle of football at its best I agree, but after the recent run of poor results we needed three points, the manager got those points and kept us in the hunt for the play offs.

Agree crap game but 3 points

Don't be so blinkered City fans and see things for what they are, do you think Slade wants to get rid of a player of the level of Kenwyne Jones?

He is just a Yes Man for our Club

I don't think he does but circumstances at the club, or the owner rather, dictates who goes and when.

As i said a Yes Man however although he has no choice a manager with a pair of balls would tell them where to shove it

Slade is on record saying he wants to keep his best players and losing your top scorer from last season would be a huge blow to the manager.

So grow a pair and voice your anger to the board

We got two tough away games up next in the league, Hull and Wolves respectively, I hope we can get something from both games though I don't expect too much if I am honest so there will be opportunities for those knives to be sharpened yet again but at least give the man this result to celebrate at least.[/quote]

If he wins both games then he will get the respect from me at least and hopefully others

The bottem line Carl, you put this post out to ger a reaction from us, you know deep down he is often out of his depth, no Plan B, out foxed by opposition managers, one win against a very poor Blackburn side, that even Bolton beat, doesn't make him manager of month. Forest were poor, yet we couldn't break them down, yet Forest nearly nicked it against us, MK Dons the list is endless.

So well done for Yesterday Mr Slade now go on a winning run and earn our respect :sladein: :ayatollah:
