Depressed Blue wrote:Don't be bitter if you didn't have a good time in the UK.

My life was just fine but it doesn't negate the fact that my points still stand. The UK is incredibly violent and confrontational and until you move abroad and live you don't really realise it that much. I'm not going to pretend its the worst place on Earth but in 2015 there are plenty of better places, thats for sure. The UK is no longer the great superpower it once was, and sadly, due to years of poor governance a lot of things have gotten worse - the NHS is on its knees, the elderly are now treated disgustingly, bills are ridiculously expensive yet wages have not increased at a relative rate, house prices have boomed meaning in reality you get very little for your buck and to top it all off, the police now won't even entertain what are regarded as 'trivial matters' on the spot and you have to wait, yet they are perfectly happy to sit with their radars on Newport Road and collect the money of other hardworking people.

The UK has done a lot for the world. Including fighting off Nazi germany less than a life time a go.

Not disputing that. Sadly, as Peter Hitchens points out, the generations that come after, the baby bloomers had their cake and ate it. They got their free university and then decided to pull the ladder up whilst spinning you and everyone else a lie that it couldn't go on that way forever. All of it is nothing more than establishment protectionism and all the parties are guilty of it. Even Farage has built a tidy career out of it, as much as I do believe he has done that with the intention of making change, because he could have quite easily got rich and lived a great lifestyle as a commodities trader.

The fact is, the youth of today in the UK have been screwed over massively, and they have been convinced that they've got it good. The reality is, they've been betrayed and should show the UK no loyalty. The youth should leave the UK, find better lives away where job opportunities with good wages in relativity to the living costs exist, they can get on the housing ladder without relying on mum and dad until they're in their late 30's - early 40's and can enjoy life rather than being stressed into working ridiculously long hours in a country that is pushing more and more people to take their own lives.

You talk of a toxic culture in the UK, how many people turn up to pegida rallies?.

Plenty. I'm not specifically on about multiculturalism and integration issues but societal issues that have manifested due to lack of societal togetherness. Years ago people could leave their doors open without fear of being robbed. Now there's very little chance of that because you don't know who to trust. Society was far less materialistic. Kids these days grow up with everything so they learn to value nothing and often do not realise what truly matters and what doesn't. Caught up in video games, reality TV and all the other distractions put in place to keep them from gaining a good education that'll wake them up to the realisation that they are being shafted left, right and centre.

The culture in the UK is one of entitlement. There are many youngsters in the UK who want to work, but there are far too many who do not and they have become mindless drones reliant on the welfare state to look after them. Furthermore, the massive breakdown of the traditional family home has caused a monumental shift in the way of British life, and its one that the society as a whole has struggled to adapt to.

In hamburg the main attraction on the guided tour was the red light district.

How much is the tour? You're right, no country is perfect and they all have their faults, as I mentioned earlier, but the reality is the UK has in many regards gone backwards. People are materialistically richer now, but that doesn't mean they are happier or better off in terms of state of mind.

And, you mustn't know much about the current economic situation in Spain if you think the lifestyle will always be better. Of course I'm sure Annis' family will be fine. As the weather will obviously be better, and that is huge when you consider how much happier everyone is here with the slightest sunshine.

Yep, I do. I know that in Spain there's mass unrest on the political scene but that's not always a bad thing. People see riots and unrest as bad in the UK, for some odd reason, but in 9/10 cases the best thing is to speak out and stand up, because if you do not do that, you end up in a situation whereby your country loses democratic values and you effectively become an elective dictatorship, and the establishment continues to run its own show, exactly as in the UK. The worst thing is apathy and silence because if you allow fear to cloud your judgement then you will not ever push forward. The UK was Great for many hundreds of years because it didn't fear anything. It had an empire because it didn't fear anything. That attitude rather than apathy needs to return. Passiveness is not progress.

I 100% agree. I think Wales would be far better as an independent nature with more of a focus on culture and family life, much like the countries in other parts of Europe, than it would continuing down this Anglicised path. Wales may be less well off in terms of GDP, but GDP alone is a bad indicator of a nations true well-being. GDP in America is good but it doesn't tell you about the mass shootings. GDP in Japan is good but it doesn't tell you about the high suicide rate. Why is this occurring? Because of the high stress of life there and the cultures. People are being pushed to the brink and this is why they are doing these things, either lashing out for help or ending it all. Then you have those who turn to drugs/alcohol to try and block it all out. Then the same countries throw mass amounts of adverts for prescription meds in your face all over the TV. I would rather a poorer country whereby people felt together than a richer divided country whereby people felt at distance from their very own neighbours.

A good read on the subject.

but the best videos of them all......

The truth in a nutshell on why the UK is in mass decline, yet people continue to deny it. The UK needs to stop its rampant corporatism and pandering to the big corporations, of whom are deeply tied with the political system, i.e. Murdoch and co., and become a true free-market capitalist economy with socially conservative values. Only then will the UK go back to being great again.

Weekends in major cities are a problem. But apart from that I've never seen a fight in the public.

If you aren't angry yourself, you will struggle to be involved in some sort of violence.

The UK is not what it was, and that is a good thing.

You dont have to live in the uk, but someones got to live here. And on the whole I think our value of life is one of the best. You can pick and choose to live somewhere better obviously as is the case here. But from top to bottom I think we're good.

Crime in wales especially. All we see usually is petty crime. Nothing like the huge problems in LA, Mexico, brazil etc etc

Thats why I love living in Wales. We may get a poor deal on average from London, but we live in peace.

I would happily live somewhere else but I think others would love to move to places like yorkshire, edinburgh etc.

The reputation of the uk is poor. Speaking to an indian man a few years ago, he said no one wants to move out of india to the uk anymore. Said as if the uk is worse than india.

And india is an actual dump.

He was blatantly lying.

Good luck Annis
This is the end of an era in Cardiff
When your dad passed away you carried on the name and all that you learned from your dad you put to good use to become a very successful business man
After being great friends with your dad it was great to seeing you do so well
You have always wanted just one thing for the bluebirds and that was success
You will be sadly missed mate but I wish you every success in your new life

I disagree with this. You often see idiots and trouble makers out in the UK. Then you have the problems of a lack of social cohesion and divisions in society which overflow into recreational activities.

The UK is not what it was, and that is a good thing.

I disagree. Years ago there was more respect and less intrusion. Liberties are being removed all the time in the UK bit by bit which does have knock on consequences on your quality of life. The vast majority of people who I know who have moved abroad don't want to go back, and thats because the grass is truly greener on the other side. Quite frankly, in my opinion, and its a controversial one, Britain should have never given up the Empire, and should have come to some sort of agreement with America that allowed it to remain. As it now stands, everything is about the petrodollar and Britain has become a bit part player in the wider scheme of things. For example, most of Europe doesn't even take the UK seriously politically hence why no serious concessions will be made.

You dont have to live in the uk, but someones got to live here. And on the whole I think our value of life is one of the best. You can pick and choose to live somewhere better obviously as is the case here. But from top to bottom I think we're good.

Disagree really. Most of the best parts of the country, Lake District for example, are closed off to the majority. Then look at the explosion in house prices in London and to live in a nice part free from the ills of modern society you are looking at a couple of million at least. You have to fork out a few hundred thousand for the privilege of living somewhere like Croydon, which is an awful place.

Crime in wales especially. All we see usually is petty crime. Nothing like the huge problems in LA, Mexico, brazil etc etc

Quite a lot of violent crime actually. There's also been a number of murders and horrible attacks in recent months that have caught the attention of national news. The situation is actually getting worse to be honest and places like Newport and Cardiff get the brunt of it because they're just across the border from England. Its no different to the situation up in North Wales with places like Rhyl, which are incredibly rough.

Thats why I love living in Wales. We may get a poor deal on average from London, but we live in peace.

More peaceful than London but not in peace. I'd wholesomely disagree with that assessment.

I would happily live somewhere else but I think others would love to move to places like yorkshire, edinburgh etc.

And prepare to be priced out massively to live somewhere nice. There's a reason the rich lived in gated off communities, its because it allows them to stave off the ills of modern society, and live in an isolated bubble. Class segregation in the UK is ridiculous, even to the extent that some London boroughs have outright banned the homeless and have put in place different entrances and exits to buildings for those on welfare and those who aren't.

The reputation of the uk is poor.

And its getting worse for obvious truthful reasons.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... broad.html

Granted, there are worse places to live than the UK but it is no longer the superpower, in any capacity, that it once was.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking ... rewed.html

Best thing for the educated youth to do is move abroad. Even if you've not been to university then try and get 1 year working VISA and go elsewhere to live and work. Its no surprise so many doctors are applying for the forms to give them the ability to move and work overseas. NHS doctors are some of the most intelligent people around and they are leaving the country in their droves, just like they did decades ago.

Obviously being a Jack b*stard, we've not been on the same wavelength for most of the time, but no one could question your commitment to The Bluebirds. If all your supporters were as loyal as you, there would be a lot less empty seats at the stadium.

I have a pal who lives in Magaluf, and I get out there a few times a year, great place to live and bring up the family, but I'm sure you'll miss the rain as much as the football. ;)

Good Luck Annis.
