Let me try and make sense of this...

You DON'T want us in the top 6 come January and you DON'T want us to be giving a budget to push for promotion? And Because you don't trust the man that got us to that position...

Although I do not wish to speak for Deano, what I think might be of concern not just for him but quite a lot of fans,is in view of Slade's transfer record, would it stand the risk of him wasting any war chest he might be given

I think we all know there's not guna be a 'war chest' avaliable.

Definatly not even a fraction of what the last two mangers had with FFP still knocking at the door.

Using common sense one would guess he may give slade a mill or so. To hopefully tie up watt and a winger.

If Slades squad has us in the play offs come Jan then he deserves to be trusted.

The last time he was given a million to spend he wasted it on Doyle.

Just make do with loan signings until the end of the season so Bellamy doesn't have anymore unwanted Slade signings on the books when he takes over.

How can u not trust a manager whose had to strip a playing squad right down but still gets us into the top 6. People criticising his transfers are just looking for excuses. Loads of them are youngsters bought for the youth team. Then u have pelts and malone who cost a massive 100,000. Both good players. Revell was cheap and anyone with an ounce of football knowledge knows he was bought as backup to Kenwyne.

A reasonable point, his football may not be making Real Madrid fans drool at the mouth, but he is making the best of the squad of players he has at his disposal, despite of the difficult situation the club is in with fans staying away / financial constraints etc.

Would i like a more appealing manager at the helm? yes, but Slade is doing a decent job with whats available. The league table doesn't lie.

Good post Pontypool.

Marshall - Premier league
Peltier - solid Championship
Connolly - top Championshp
Morrison - Solid Championship
Fabio - Premier league
Manga - Premier league
Malone - Solid Champoinship
Gunnar - Championship
Whitts - top Championship
Ralls - top Championshp (prob better)
Pilkington - top Championship
Noone - top Championship
Dikgachoi - top Championshp
Jones - Premier league
Watt- top Championshp
Mason - league 1

The average is top championship, why are we suggesting that he is doing a better job than the player available. Yes he has let player go, but were they really that much better. He hasn't got to work with league 1 players.

Jones Premiership?

Watt has played twice for us how can you say top championship?

BORING !! Tan always says that every few months that Slade will get money to spend. All he gets is £2.50 each time to get a drink and a bar of chocolate from the vending machine.

Tan has promised Slade before and hasn't backed him.

No they won't. 1 of them will. There's one place up for grabs.

You should get to the bookies 1 eye if you know who's going to finish where. You seem to have it all worked out, this footballs a doddle, you should be managing in the Premier.
Your the man 1 eye, sod Bellamy you can have Slades job. Someone tell Tan Polos in town.

Only one team will get promoted but there are 4 play-off slots as I clearly stated

ALL managers make bad signings. Even king malky... Ferguson... Wenger.. Almost all championship clubs have players worth more than Doyle that have flopped and are rotting in the reserves or out on loan. You need to take your head out of your arse and look at the bigger picture polo.

In my initial post the "bunch of inconsistent teams too good to get sucked into relegation and not good enough to get promoted" was aimed at the teams currently in 6th to 14th of which 5 points seperate the lot.

Then theres another 5 to 8 points betwen 6th and the other play-off positions and 10 points between 6th and automatics.

In MY OPINION the current top 5 will not be penetrated hence only 1 of the teams I was reffering to will reach the play-offs.

Me may, he may not. Too early to tell. Hence I say to use the loan market and see how the season pans out.

You're right about all managers making bad signings but its the ratio of good to bad thats important and so far the Slade signings have been far more bad than good.

Finally please dont ever refer to Malky as "King" when speaking to me. I cant stand the bloke.

Difference is 'King Malky's' shite signings cost 8.5 million or 3 million or 2.5 million X 3.

Well that's football isn't it, nothing is garenteed. Watt could score another 4 goals before Jan and then we sign him and goes to shit.

Your forgetting that the majority of his signings are either youngsters or brought in as back up squad players on a budget to replace players leaving. Trusted hard workers to bring the right mentality and ethics into the squad that was badly lacking them.

It's not as simple as saying he's signed 'x' amount and only 'x' amount start. You seem an intelligent enough person to realise that but maybe slightly too stubborn to admit it.

Yes I heard O Keefe is a far better comedian than he is a footballer and thats why Slade signed him to have around the dressing room

I remember he claimed O Keefe played a big part in Palace staying up too. Said hed played 13 of the final 17 games. He hadnt. He started 1 game for Pulis  Now hes realised for himself hes signed a dud hes now tried to claim he was signed for his influence around the dressing room

You backtracked on Slade once and you'll do it again.

That's fair enough polo, hopefully he changes your mind.

Like I said on another post, I'm not Slades biggest fan but I'm happy for him to see the season out then I think we should start looking to the future with real aspirations of promotion.

He's spoken so much bullshit he will never change my mi d. The bloke grinds my gears. The way he looks, the way he speaks and the nonsense he talks I just can't stand to look at him or hear him speak. Whenever I read quotes I can't help but read them in his voice. He does my head in.

I'd go along with that actually, I've put up with his crap for over a year another 5 months.

We are nowhere near good enough to go up with the way he plays, or ready to go up as a club, so let's go again next year with fresh ideas.

I wouldn't trust Slade with food stamps, never mind a transfer kitty.

Me neither. I'd make do with what we've got, see the season out, and start again in the summer.

We need to be building some proper foundations like Swansea, Southampton, Palace and Leicester have done in recent times.

Just hoping to go up on a wing and a prayer with no proper philosophy, no proper plan just end up becoming a QPR and ending up in worst trouble or for getting promoted.

Clubs with no philosophy, foundations or a plan go up and come back down.

QPR, Watford and us for example.

Clubs with them stay up: pretty much the clubs you've listed.

Even Newcastle had a plan when they went up with Nolan and Carroll. It was only afterwards they through it all away and are now on the verge of falling apart completely.

I agree with you 100%. We need to plan for the long term and I would, as you said in another thread, give Bellamy a 1 year rolling contract with a 5 year plan outlined and have an annual performance review to see if he's still on track to achieve the aims after 5 years.
