I'm a believer that clubs need good grounding and patience to move forward sustainably.

imo we should let slade see the season out, thank him for his work and then choose a new manager carefully early in the summer.

with a full pre season and a small budget a more forward thinking, modern manager would be able to get this squad playing some very decent football

Good OP! Slade probably took on the easiest job in the championship and had nothing but a luxury problem.
Dug himself a hole of lies and underdog statements, but some fans are easier fooled than others.. I find it strange that Cardiff players would be unfit using the same basis fitness program that Real Madrid and Barcelona use..
And with all the injuries this season, I'm sure Slade is the godfather of fitness training levels..

Sorry but he took over Cardiff not Blackpool. We have the best keeper in the league, several players who 15 months before he arrived were champions of this league, a striker on 37k a week who had played in the Premier League all of his career and been transferred for several millions of pound on more than one occasion, and we had also just spent around 15m in the transfer market including 5m on a centre half from the Ligue 1.

If thats 'horrendous' and 'dreadful' then I dont think there are words invented to describe Blackpools situation!

Much is made of him shaving money off the wage bill but we had a squad of over 40 first team players so even after getting rid of players who were nowhere near the first team picture he still had the nucleus of one of the better squads in the division. Also, even after shaving money off the wage bill you can bet the remaining budget is still one of the highest in the division.

Another thing people over play is our league postion. When Ole was sacked we were 16th or 17th from recollection but we had only played 7 games, 2 of whom we lost to, Boro and Norwich, contested the play-off final. Hardly enough games to get a true reflection of the league position when you hadnt even played a third of the teams in the division!!!.

At that point I believe Forest were top of the league and look where they finished. Co-incidently when we played the same 7 teams under Slade in the reverse fixtures later in the season we scored the same amount of points - 8.

This argument over how much he has improved our league position would have more meat on the bones if we had just finished 17th in the championship after a 46 games season and then finished the following season in the play-offs. As it stands a 7 game season is being compared to a 19 game season to quantify the improvement?!?!

Im not getting too carried away with currently sitting in 6th we are not halfway through the season yet and its so tight between 6th and 14th that points wise we are just as close to Burnley in 5th as Wolves are to us and they sit in 14th.

We will have to play with far more consistency, and play far better than a scratchy, probably undeserved win against the bottom team in the division before Slade can convince me that he is capable of getting this side into the play-offs and promoted.

He took over a pretty good squad. Just a shame that we sold all the talent. And I don't think he had a choice in that matter.

We got promoted as the atmosphere Mackay created was by far the best we have had. He took over a club with 10 senior players on its books. Then he brought in some players such as Gunnarsson & Mutch and turned them in to the quality players you speak of.

In this league the players are what you make of them. Some turgid players have played integral roles in teams promotions.

It is about winning games and putting runs together.

Funny as that is what people used to throw mackay under the bus for. That his football was apparently awful. When we win under any circumstances with slade and its all hunk doory.

We were all over the place as both a team and a fanbase under Solksjaer. The divison and and arguments on here were no stop, everyday. The football was worse under SOlksjaer. I can remember watching some games where we literalyl couldn't put 5 passes together. None stop long balls.

Now at least our colour is a none issue. Apart from that worm. The team occasional gets a win and is competitive. So we are back where we started are we not?.

Nope. We are in more debt than is sustainable and we've got a over commercialised stadium, an owner that doesn't understand British football, and a fan base that lost interest because of previous. We are going to have to face our maker at some point over our finances, it is only a matter of time.

That's down to Tan. Slade his doing his job.

If we want an ounce of stability, then Slade must stay.

And, I don't think we've even been playing that well.

So if it all clicks in the new year who knows?.

Also I'd say that all the arguing on here recently has revolved around subjects not even related to the club :laughing5:

That must mean something.

I think most are content with where we are considering our biggest deal last summer was a loaned player. I had us down for relegation before the seasons start.
