Maybe because even bar his asmtha, he's still a good player?

He is, but thats his major problem which has hindered him big time at Newcastle

In not sure of the exact words, but I believe Slade was saying that Ameobis fitness is improving now. As a result of being part of a 1st team squad he has got more attention and his athsma was now being treated in the way required.

IMHO he can still be a useful impact player, but I don't see him starting regularly soon

The FFP thing is very interesting.
Without the cuts we would have ended up with an embargo.
I think this shows that the club originally gambled big on Ole, prepared to break the rules as they were confident we'd go up.
When we had such a poor start they had a complete change of plan, hence having to bring in a cost cutter rather than a big name.

It adds up, but here's another worry.
We lose a big chunk of parachute money in May, in the meantime only 2 top earners are out of contract, Jones, who the club are trying to keep ( apparently) and Turner.

Where will we save £8-£12m ?

Sadly I see bids for Manga and No one as being not only good news, but essential.

Tim, I agree we have more worrying times ahead as I see more of our better players leaving replaced by ordinary players, which is not Slades fault.

It's going to need some clever movement.
We can still cut wages and bring in some fees without weaken in the 1st team too much.

Just needs to be the right ones going out and a bit of luck with the ones coming in.

Another thing Choo said was that they are nurturing promising young players at the satellite clubs in Europe who could be very good for us in a few years time and they are now working with long term plans not just one season at a time

Neil, Just look at our transfers in the last year, any player who has been of quality and we could off load they've gone and I don't need to go through the list of players again as I have posted the players time and time again and guess what we have replaced them with 14 players of which only " ONE " commands a regular place and another gets in if we have injuries

Ole couldn`t manage a piss up in a brewery. He was recruited because he was a known name from a club the Chairman is a fan of in the hope that name would attract quality players to the club. Instead, most of the recruitment was of players who happened (by no coincidence?) to have an agent that Ole used to be in business with.

Dave Jones , I agree , could have got the club promoted with a big budget. Despite any other managerial shortcomings he had , he did have the knack of getting the best out of players that most other managers couldn`t because of their attitude and off the field issues (Chopra , Bothroyd etc).

Tim Hartley was there as both a Trust member and a long standing Cardiff City fan who supports the team home and away. Why shouldn`t he be there?

Revell and O'Keefe were signed to be positive influences and it worked. Team spirit is now good.

Club still sailing close to FFP limits (Choo) , to me that means still making big losses

He will need to wheel and deal in Jan but wants a powerful quick winger and a striker.

9 players were ill with a virus last week including Mason, Pilks, Ameobi, John and ( my guess) KD.

Gunnar came off injured last Sat and Jones was knackered for the last 10

Cheers Tim for the info :thumbright: :thumbright:

Tim

From what was said last night , both in the general meeting and in one on one chats , I can see the following players going in January to raise transfer fees and cut the wage bill to help fund the couple of quality players that RS and KC said the club would be bringing into the club .Also Saadi available again in New Year to play with Watt - in my view a decent striking partnership with pace and directness.

Kenwynne Jones - very high wages and would get a decent transfer fee if let go in Jan (nothing if kept until his contract runs out in June). Has looked our best bet for goals this season (not difficult) , but could be replaced.

Craig Noone - in my opinion a "one trick pony". Plenty of energy , but most of it wasted and the opposition managers and players know what he is going to do on the ball every time - cut inside and usually lose it. As the manager said last night , he also doesn`t score enough goals. Could raise a transfer fee and be replaced by either Pilkington or Kennedy without weakening the team (also Harris to come on from the bench).

Bruno Manga - a player I rate highly but he hasn`t actually played much for the team due to injury. Would generate a good transfer fee and good wage savings to invest elsewhere. Our current centre backs are good at Championship level , with Ben Turner now back from injury as well.

As well as the above , I can see a few more fringe players being let go to free up a replacement wages budget without weakening the squad.

The other thing that pleased me last night was the stated recognition by RS that Joe Ralls has now cemented his place in the side in central midfield. Gunnarson seems to play far better there with him than he does with Whittingham .

Annis I honestly believe had Ole taken us over when Malky did and had his budget, he would have taken us up. I also think, had Dave Jones had Malky's budget he would have smashed the championship and won it by 15 points scoring 100 goals.

Also why the f**k is Tim Hartley anywhere near anything after his shite about the football league rebrand?

Because of his lack of credibility after the EFL stuff.

Ole did pretty well at Malmo. A place where Uwe Rosler (highly thought of by some) didn't.

And (NSASWA), the "TRAVEL CLUB" "BOSS". (well those who turn up for meetings)

Interesting evening, but we've heard it all before.

Best bits were Ken Choo, saying "they have a 3 to five year plan !

Apparently the club turned down an offer from Man City this week for one of our youngsters (not first team)

War chest for "OUR RUSS" in January is limited.

We are close to getting 2 players from Europe.

"OUR RUSS", wishes he had the Whitts of 3 years ago.

If we cannot find a 20 goal a season player, we need all the other players chipping in (no shit "OUR RUSS")

Lots of, "we all gotta pull in the same direction" and "OUR RUSS", loves the "AWAY FANS".

hooray!! Russ finally realises Whitts is shit. :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein: :sladein:

I'm not the one criticising fans for turning up and asking the questions that they want.
