Re: The Syria poll

Bluebird since 1948 wrote:Assad summed up ISIS brilliantly when he said "The Islamic state not from Syira, they have grown in Iraq under American supervision". The Americans let ISIS and other barbaric groups some of which are fighting for the FSA grow unchecked because they were serving them a purpose. Now they have grown into this worldwide terror group and the Americans can't control the monster they helped create.

I don't like Assad but we need to bite the bullet and back him for now, like the Russian have. The lesser of two evils indeed. What I find ridiculous is that people are saying that we need to remove Assad because he used chemical weapons against his own people, this did not happen, it was proved not to be him. Is Assad worse than other leaders? Mugabe? Saudi Arabia? The basket cases that are Libya and Iraq?

I ask again, what are Camerons true motives here? I haven't heard him put up a credible argument yet beyond the fact that it may keep us safe here (bullshit) and that France have asked us to help them, where were France in 2003!

The ones that will lose out the most are the Turks as they have profited massively from ISIS oil.I can't go with Assad being the lesser of two evils either.Him and his father before him are probably responsible for moe civilian deaths that ISIS anyway.Just because the tw*t dresses in a suit doesn't make him any better than than the rest of them.I think rthere is continuing convergence between the West and the Russian point of view and the best way for us in the long term would be to make Syria a place that all these refugees and migrants will want to go back to.I think I'm right in saying that Cameron has pledged an initial billion with more to follow when ISIS is removed and theres a time frame in place to get rid of Assad.Thats got to be better than the alternative.(thousands of refugees)

Didn't they sell them exocet missiles?

In fact the French helped them by selling Argentina weapons.

Bluebird since 1948 wrote:Cheers Daniel, I will watch that later. I believe Assad to be a right c**t but no worse than other dicators around the world and certainly not the monster he's been painted as in the western media.

It's interesting, he goes back a few years to when the Arab spring occurred and talks about how the different forces rise. What's clear is that he makes little distinction between "moderate rebels" that are looking to overthrow him and ISIL, to him they are all terrorists. I think he says in it that it would be the same in any country, that it is fine to have opposition to regimes or whatever, but once you have military opposition (who he blames for these gas attacks, violent uprising etc.) they are terrorists. He doesn't want to accept some transitional government or anything like that imposed by the US or UK, he wants support in the country for him, and would only give up his position if done through legitimate means, a democratic election. The problem is there are many questions marks over his regime that caused the uprising in the first place, and the "election" that took place last year I believe that kept him in power. I think he says there has been no negotiations or discussions whatsoever with Western forces about solution, none at all, and this is from a few month back. He only gains information on bombings from Western countries in his own country from his allies like Iran and Russia, he's very critical of the likes of Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

It's difficult because it seems it's often a choice of the lesser of two evils. Even in countries like Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. where there has been leaders like Gaddafi, Hussein etc. but simply removing these causes more problems because it allows rebels and different groups to rise and take advantage, it's all well and good eliminating elements but there needs to be a solution afterwards, humanitarian resources, infrastructure, protection, resources. To think bombing is a solution I believe is silly, a gesture to come across strong without any thought on a long term solution, I think it will have minimal effect and possibly cause more problems.

Military intervention never works. The best thing to do is let Turkey and Syria into the EU and we can all be friends. :ayatollah:

Usually I support labour. I do actually like Corbyn he does seem honest. But I can't vote for a man who says he won't use nukes (don't need to use them just don't say you wont), weaken our armed forces even more than this government has and he just seems to weak on national security.

As you would like ISIS to prosper and grow and grow?.

What is your solution apart from complaining over bombing selected targets?.

We are not dropping cluster bombs ffs

Correct, it's easy for some people to conveniently forget that ISIS is very much already a country ( though obviously not endorsed by the international community) . A state that is actively organising terror attacks on this country and other free countries. There is no distinction between Iraq and Syria ( the ISIS controlled parts) so if we are already bombing Iraq ISIS targets then we need to do the same in the Syrian ISIS sector. Nobody wants to go to war but sometimes, like in the playground at school, you just have to start standing up for yourself. It's about protecting this democracy as well as destroying the organisation that is trying to destroy our freedom. ISIS is trying to destroy the UK regardless of whether we bomb them or not

Put it this way. The US led coalition gets wrong Intel about a bomb making facility in raqqa. An F18 bombs the facility but it turns out it's an block of apartments with a couple 100 residents living in it. Everyone on that Street is going to be pissed off.

Its one he'll of an recruitment drive for the sub human goat fuckers.

I don't want any refugees coming here so I won't support my country bombing theirs. It's not our fight sadly and we really need to concentrate on wiping ISIS out from our streets rather than another countries. Let the French, Americans and Russians wipe them out. This all about an ego trip for Cameron.

Obama is helping ISIS and so are Turkey and Saudi Arabia. America arms ISIS and created them and supplied hundreds of Toyota pick up trucks and gave ISIS save passage into Syria. Oh look, an Appache helicopter escorting ISIS fighters into Syria.

As I'm sure you're well aware, Assad has committed atrocities against Kurds etc and at the time when your statement WAS true, the priority was to help the Kurds etc topple Assad. ISIS were another small group fighting Assad at the time, hence some financial support from America. Obviously priorities have changed with ISIS becoming a real threat to the West and funding therefore stopped obviously. The same thing has happened in other countries with the USfinancially backing the Muja Haddeen in Afghanistan against the Soviet conquerors in the 80's. The Soviets eventually pulled out a
Nd the Muja Hadeen went on to become the Taliban . Are you really trying to say that simultaneously the US are both fighting AND funding ISIS?? Ffs, stay off the conspiracy websites friend, the posters tend to be jobless chavs who have hours upon hours of spare time on their hands every day and are scrambling around to find things to interest their boring meaningless lives!
