To all you top banana managers out there who complain about Slade signings I set you a challenge below.
Name 5 players you could bring in on a free transfer who will accept average championship wages between 5-8 grand a week and improve the team?

To me it seems nobody could really answer the question :ayatollah:

That's probably because it was a stupid question...

We don't even need to sign anyone. We have enough quality - Slade is the problem himself. He shouldn't be a manager in this league. This was hardly a 'challenge' as Annis puts it... It's more of a "I have an opinion and because I'm Mr Cardiff and can hit a drum totally out of rhythm , my opinions are also always right" from Vince.

Vince has got a few slade haters tongue twisters with this one. I've seen five names off a poster but they wouldn't be free that's a cert :laughing6:

Harris
Tom Bradshaw
Conor Hourihane
Conor Mcaleny
Alex Mowatt

Not on free transfers but but with low wages because i cant think of any decent player for free with low wages like that.

That's what slades got to work with though FREEBIES yet everyone's moaning about slades players yet nobody can answer this question put by Vince which is why I'm not bothered by slade because we should all know by now what he's up against with money and what goes is what tan says so we could be worse off in the league that's for sure :bluescarf:

Slades transfers haven't been good but its only Doyle that we paid over half a mil for. Doyle was 750,000 i think but burnley paid 8 mil for gray Boro paid 6 mil for nugent around 6 for downing derby spend about 20 mil in the summer. To get proven championship players you have to spend millions now something a lot of clubs did this.

That's because the question doesn't need to be answered - we already have a good current squad and Slade isn't getting the best out of it. Why? Well because he can't change tactics away from the 442 set up, play the players he's already got (Kennedy, John) or even play the current first team in their best position (Ralls).

Even our current availability of strikers could be overcome without further investment. How about 451 Russell. Using attacking wingers - Noon, Pilington and bring in Kennedy or Ameobi?

Even sell off some of the poor signings like Doyle, Revell, Le Fondre and Macheda. Use that kitty to spend money on a decent and prolific goal scorer. Also without needing to sell our best player Marshall.

So that's why nobody is answering the question, apparently. Because it's a stupid one and just shows the incompetence of the manager.

You have every right to hold that view, but why do you think we need to get in additional players (especially given Slade's reputation of buying lower league sub-substandard players) when the current squad if properly utilised should already be good enough for a top six finish?

As I said above, if we got rid of the dross a better kitty should be available for a good championship quality player. Just my opinion.

Okay. The obvious answer is probably no player of any quality. However, no expenditure is needed though is it. We just need a manager who can actually manage the resource he already has rather than waste any more money like he has done to date.

For me, part of the excitement of seeing the club cut it's cloth accordingly was to see a few development players get a chance. Revell & Doyle have been given games ahead of Healy which is not what most fans wanted. In retrospect, I don't believe those two had any major impact on results.
