As I've said on Twitter, Annis, the problem for me is up front. Joe Mason is garbage, and I'm sorry but he has NEVER been good enough for us, which is why I can't stomach the "Super Joe" crap that's been getting spouted these past few years.

He offers us nothing, and just seems to jog around the pitch doing a whole lot of bugger all. Defenders aren't worried about him in the slightest, and even the way our midfield play seems to show a complete lack of faith in his abilities to finish chances too.

Forget the Slade hate, it's having Joe Mason as our main striker that will stop us getting promoted at this rate. Breaks my heart that ALF didn't work out for us, because I genuinely think he'd get goals in this team the way we play now.

Mason is Div 3 football and Revell is also Div 3

I am not a SLADE hater, just don't rate his football as he for me will never ever take us up or bring the fans back, we battle under him, but Slades brand of football will leave us with an empty stadium and the proof is there week in week out Sadly

A bit harsh on mason, he's our top scorer. Revell and slade belong to Div 3 I agree

most of his goals are from deflections or shots with no-one else around him due to defensive errors , he just runs around and offers nothing

Agreed, I do believe Mason is no where near good enough but can't agree that he's a worker or battler, he just appears lost and hardly affects the game at all.

Tonight we were poor but looked clueless once Dikajoi went off. We should all know by now that Gunnar just isn't good enough as part of a midfield 4. Admittedly he does battle but his distribution is poor and he's not quick enough.

Unless we get a goal threat from somewhere we will be mid table and nothing more. The frustrating thing is that if we had a goal scorer then we would be a real threat in this division this season as I haven't been impressed with anyone other than Hull and even then we were unlucky in that game.

agree if the wages of O'keefe,Tamas and Revell were used on a decent striker then things would improve but , the most frustrating thing is we are so predicatble we play the same system every game regardless of who we are playing and even the subs are always the same , it's so predicatble and lacks ideas

Totally agree, poor division all sides are fit and organised just need some pace and quality but most sides be saying same. I did say 4 points from both home games good return, I stick by that but play like that against Ipswich and defeat for sure.

We are always looking to go square or back to keep possession result is when opportunity arises to go forward quickly we dont because whitts,gunner not looking up pitch! Our forward setup is abysmal if get that right we are laughing! But nobody in setup can see it the question is why not as its so blatantly obvious!

Trying to take some pluses out of the game.

- defensively we look solid, even with Manga and Turner out we have a very good back four

- Noone I thought was brilliant on the wing, although no target man to aim for

- I know KJ is on stupid money however he is the difference between mid table and pushing for a playoff spot

I honestly don't know what else to say, I do think Slade has done what's needed to be done since coming in, however now we have stability back at out club is he the man to push us forward? Time will tell...

I agree, and what i don't understand are the fans who were forecasting a 2, 3 even 5 goal win on the match thread before this evening's game. We have hardly looked like scoring goals since day one, and I can't get my head around where they think these goals are going to come from. You don't need to know much about football to see we lack the pace, creativity and a natural scorer to realise that this was always going to be a struggle. I got it wrong by saying a scruffy 1-0 win for us, but it will be Bristol who think they threw away an extra 2 points today.

What we have on the pitch or in reserve is just not going to cut it.......

Our options up front are very limited, IMO mason is not good enough, yes he works hard but no end product! For me he loses the ball to easily, confidence is low and the times he should be taking the shot he looks for a pass... And pretty sure he struggles to grasp the offside rule.
Revell works hard but as a team we are so predictable. Long ball for a striker to try and flick on, and inevitably give away possession.
Neither of them in the last two games have made clever runs, they just don't have the skill or the pace to make the runs to beat defenders.
Noone I like, but his ability to beat a player isn't being utilised, there were several occasions tonight, he should've just gone down the wing and put the ball in the danger area.... Sometimes it's like the way we set up to play, is to go so far forward then turn and play the ball back. Too safe at times!
Ameobi seems to be a victim of his of ability to take his opportunities, by that I mean he is more effective coming off the bench then when he starts... And slade has to realise he is a winger, not a striker.

And finally, anyone else realise we had a bench without a recognised striker on there? I am pretty sure no team in the championship or premier league who are looking to challenge would have a bench with no striker on there...
Even if it was a young academy striker. We just didn't have options.....

We have jones and macheda to come back but I don't think they are the answer.

Changes need to be made and made quick otherwise we can look forward to mid table mediocrity...

Noone was brilliant!! He had two decent runs all game and no end product, gave the ball away. He over ran the ball out twice and couldn't even play easy passes in field. If that was a brilliant performance, then we really are fecked

It is in January if Marshall wants to go and we get the money we got to spend the money on young hungry pacey players
