Maybe so they can finally feel comfortable that people know who they are? Because they don't feel any shame? Because they're proud of it?
Same as any other human being who comes out, whether they're in the spotlight or not it doesn't make any difference.
When do straight people come out and say they are straight?
Nobody is stopping them?
But I guess because it's generally assumed that someone is straight, unless it's obvious. It can't be so clear with others that they're gay.
And there are some people who don't like to associate with gay people, so they deserve to know who their friends are.
Find it bizarre that it irritates people when someone comes out.

Even doing adverts about his gayness now, they were even on about making a film about him ffs the man sounds gayer and gayer every time I see him on TV, starting to put on that camp voice to. The only kunts who seem to care and make a big deal about it are the press. No one else gives a fuk
"They"???? Obviously not people you would associate with maybe?
Bring it out into the open?? Maybe "they" should keep "it" hidden.
"That rugby player..." Happened to be the captain of Wales and had the guts to tell everyone.
"Gayness"??? Do you talk about someone's straightness? Get a grip!!
Seriously folks, this is not ok.
" do you talk about someone's straightness" no I fuking dont, and that's exactly my point.
"They" as in these footballers. Why do they feel the need to bring it up. It's their business and knowbody else's as far as I'm concerned. As for Gareth Thomas. I couldn't give a fuk if he was one of them lot who walked on the moon. It's getting embarrassing the way he now seems to be milking it for all its worth....he's the one constantly making it out to be some massive deal, no one else is. He doesn't shut up about it. You look at that referee Nigel Owens. He's gay but you don't see him constantly bannging on about it. ,he just gets on with it, its his own busness and no one elses, just how it should be. They're fuking gay, they ain't dying. No big deal. This ain't the 70s-80s when it was still seen as taboo. No one cares anymore. But when they keep on chirping on about it (just like them kunts you come across that never shut up about their conquests "I SHAGGED THIS GIRL A FUKED THAT GIRL") it gets annoying. And as for your quote "obviously people I wouldn't associate with" I no plenty of gay people I talk to on a regular basis. Their are a few Cardiff fans I know well who are gay. But they don't constantly bang on about it as if its a big deal. It's a normal part of society. So why make it out to be some kind of big shock horror deal. There's just no need
Agree, my aunt is gay but doesn't bang on about it she just gets on with it and her partner now married, they just want to be treated like everyone else and they are
The whole point is that Gareth Thomas, Tom Daley and Nigel Owen have been "firsts" and take their responsibilities as role models seriously. They have all, spoken out and part of their motivation. Is to do with giving confidence to young, confused and anxious people. I teach teenagers and know how negative comnents and bigoted attitudes cause misery and in some cases, suicidal thoughts.
Don't forget that in some parts of the world, homosexuality is punishable by death. We are supposedly an enlightened nation. Apparently, football is slowly catching up.
I can see a new advert coming out... 'are you young, confused and anxious?... The you might be - gay'

THink I'm missing the point as I have no issue whatsoever over anyones sexuality ,I have friends who are gay and family and I've only ever seen it as normal. what people do in their private lives is up to themWoodville Willie wrote:darran1927 wrote:mr'mogreenz wrote:Woodville Willie wrote:mr'mogreenz wrote:I honestly don't see why they feel the need to bring it out in the open.
