I've just been told Kevin Nolan is out of City's price range,as I had said in previous posts.
So the rumours are wrong as far as I've been told.

Rumours mean nothing but the bookies are never wrong :thumbright:

Rumours can come true,
Plus bookies can be wrong, just because say City had enquired about Nolan or even met him, that would make them make Nolan favourite, but it still does not guarantee he will sign.
Football can change at any moment.

I've been told Nolan is way over Slades budget.

Totally agree, maybe wishfull thinking, he is however odds on compared to the next best 10/1 so something is going on. If he comes great if not we move on. We would have a real great spine if we could pull it off and I have no doubt players would respond to him. He's a leader and the type we need

So who was the experienced midfielder that Slade had agreed terms with?

If Tan wants to get us back in the Prem and at the same time recoup the money he's lost, then he's gonna have to put his hand in his pocket for someone like Nolan, as for me he'd guarantee us at least a play off place. As the saying goes, 'you have to speculate to accumulate.'

The thing is, he speculated once already but has'nt accumulated. I'm not sure he would be prepared to gamble again, especially as he has no guarantees of winning.

I agree with that Steve,I think Tan was taught a very harsh lesson. But there is no way Tan will get his money back in the Championship and if he keeps cutting costs, we would eventually probably end up being relegated in the next few years, which would leave Tan even more out of pocket.
Tan should realise, that signing a born leader and quality player like Nolan, would give everyone at the club a massive lift and be a catalyst for a promotion bid. It is a gamble, but I think it's a gamble worth taking.

I would absolutely love this to happen, like some posters have said, you hate him when he plays against you but would love him if he played for you. Nolan is exactly what we need and Tan should push the boat out to sign him :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
If Slade could pull this one off then I would start believing in him

well if Tan is serious about a promotion push then Nolan and the like is exactly the players we should be going for even if he has to terminate some contracts to justify Nolan's wages

The guys a free transfer, yes his wages maybe steep but 25k would likely get him (plus nice bonus if promoted) also it maybe a one or two year contract max. I wouldn't rule it out.

He's a quality player. Surprised a team like Liverpool or Arsenal don't go for him just to add some depth to their squads.

He said his reason for leaving is he still wants to play more games I can't see any prem team except maybe the newly promoted ones going for him then it's top end championship teams will he see us as one of them tho

Surely this thread was a joke from the start. 1st reason we've not got the cash to splash...with players like this their salary goes up not down as it's going to be his final farewell 2nd Why would he even consider this club...hardly attractive anymore 3rd He won't end up in the championship he will go to a lower end prem club.

Rumours on this board sometimes

Report: Kevin Nolan in talks with Cardiff City after West Ham United departure

By Giuseppe Labellarte, Reporter

Last Updated: Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 20:52 UK
Former West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan is on the radar of Cardiff City, according to reports.

The 33-year-old left Upton Park on Thursday morning by mutual consent after four years with the Hammers, with manager Slaven Bilic citing a lack of playing time as the main reason behind his departure.

According to Wales Online, Nolan has been in talks with the Bluebirds over a potential move to the Cardiff City Stadium.

The veteran midfielder joined the Hammers from Newcastle United in summer 2011, scoring 31 goals in 157 games in the last four seasons.

Would be happy with this, Dikgachoi has been impressive and with Nolan alongside him we will be solid centrally, remember thinking how much he influenced referees in Newcastles championship season. Would be a great signing :bluebird:

Offloading the likes of Guerra and Velikonja added to our budget for wages already would surely allow us to offer a decent wage with a potential promotion bonus.

A striker on loan who will get us goals would set us up nicely :ayatollah:

dont think tan has any intention of spending again,he must be rubbing his hands together seeing us play decent football and not having to spend a penny, problem is if we dont go up (which we wont) we are def stuck with tan for another yr
