There are some really good suggestions on here.

Everyone has their valid reasons for not attending, the problem nowadays is once you stop going it is hard to rekindle the love.

I was a season ticket holder in the late eighties/early nineties when we were SHIT. Most weeks the football was abysmal but we kept going because of the banter we used to have while stood under the gantry on the Bob bank. We had some of our best laughs when the crowds were low (1089v Orient on a wet Tuesday night).

I have not attended a game at CCS but I guess there is no freedom to move to empty seats to be closer to friends/better atmosphere, one of the problems that occured when they put seats in the Bob bank was the area under the gantry where we used to stand and sing was suddenly over run by what are now called 'plastics' who used to moan about the noise!!!! or never joined in. We dispersed then a few stopped going and eventually I lost the love of the 'Day out'

I will be attending my first game in over a decade against Bristol, though after reading on here about the over zealous stewarding (a major concern with which the club needs to address) and poor atmoshere I can put up with shit owners (clemo etc) poor managers (osman) woeful players (cameron toshack) if I have a good laugh with the people around me.

The walk up prices are too expensive, I cannot buy tickets early beacause I generally don't know until late on Friday if I am required to work on a Saturday and Tuesday's are out of the question.

The Club could introduce a Prize Draw at all home League games to win a pair of half/season tickets, with one pair given to current season ticket holders per game and one pair drawn from the match day tickets sold.

The club could also give a weekly prize away via it's email subscribers ie signed shirt.

We are a sleeping giant.

We for too many years were in the lover leagues, in this time fathers supported man utd, Liverpool and passed this on to their kids

So if we done ok and got into the Championship, some of the glory hunters turned up but thought the football was shit compared to man utd from the telly and stopped going.

Any club that has had the history we have had would have the same problem, and so would man utd. .. except it would take years because there fan base is massive only because of their success.

Yes we had glory hunters their for the premier, that is fine, because if we would have stayed up, brought in some decent players and become established, then the glory hunter would have become a true City fan

I still believe that if we get back to the premier and stay there we could get 40, 50k if we were doing ok

Lower league not lover league

Also, the banter has gone. Years ago, even though the football was shit the banter between the fans kept you going, now if the football is shit there is nothing

I do believe that if we get in the top six and keep playing good football a fair number will return. We have to show ambition and a couple of quality signings could sway a number. Sure, there are glory hunters, but I've got a lot of mates who are long time Bluebirds who have become disillusioned.

With season ticket sales no more than 10,000 and 12,000 Season ticket holders less than two years and with City having a fairly good start, with both League attendances at a record low City will be meeting Supporters groups once again to talk about how to get the fans back.
City even let fans pay £10each for the Wolves game with a season ticket holder and even that attendance was a new record low

City have stuck to their part and produced a quality BLUE home strip :bluescarf:

So what can they do?

My opinion we had thousands of Glory hunters who endorsed the red and had the live or care for Cardiff City, just Premier League at all costs and then gone as a quick as they arrived, for me they can stay away :ayatollah:

Well you can keep your opinion I am no glory hunter ( you don't even know me) to even qualify me for that one just shows me how out of touch you really are.

My (or our) reasons for not coming are mainly the style under the past few managers and as someone has pointed out the shambolic way the club has been run and treatment of us so called fans.

If ever a club has done its best to alienate its core fans then they would get 100 out of 100 for that :digging2:

What they don't realise is that they may never get them back :digging2:

By the way I know far more supporters who don't go anymore after supporting the club from 15 yrs up than I do ones who have just gone in the past 5 yrs. :old:

Muppets run the club and some muppets follow it :sladeout:

Im with annis on this one. Apart from personal finances all the other excuses are bullshit  We heard it all last couple of months and anyone who has seen city play this season will appreciate the transition that is slowly taking place. And I guarantee that when we pick up more wins and climb table and these FANS crawl out of the woodwork, I just hope the club remembers us 10000 ST holders loyalty :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

"You to still take advantage of the fantastic buy one, get one free deal that was introduced this summer for the first time.

This year’s package has proven to be a huge success with fans, a record take-up from Ospreys supporters seeing the number passing 8,000 in under eight weeks.

Prices now start at just £185 for an adult season membership, meaning that you can watch EVERY single one of the Ospreys 17 home games for next season for under £11 per match – that’s just 50p per day.

What’s more, with the Ospreys rewarding EVERY single season membership with a buy one, get one free offer it means members can purchase two for the price of one (free membership not available to any person registered as a season-ticket holder in 2011/12).

Anyone buying a membership who registers a friend or family member for a free membership by Saturday 11th August will also receive a £25 voucher for the Ospreys Club Shop.

Once again, we are offering FREE membership for all U16’s, with up to four going free with a paying adult – with the buy one get one free offer meaning mum and dad plus four children can enjoy a whole season of first class rugby entertainment at the Liberty Stadium for just £185. The reasons to buy don’t end there, with a number of other fantastic new initiatives helping to create even more value for money including:

• 10% discount at Club Shop and online store
Exclusive offers at Liberty Stadium food and beverage outlets
• 10% discount on the purchase of additional match tickets
• 15% discount on Liberty Stadium season parking subject to availability
Ospreys Supporters Club membership and 2012/13 pin badge
• Discount on matchday hospitality packages
• Ospreys car window sticker to show your support
• An invitation to an exclusive members only event
• A special discount and offers book for selected retailers and businesses across the region

While these initiatives make for an incredible deal for anyone with even a passing interest in the Ospreys, we understand that individual circumstances mean that a season membership is not always the most suitable way for someone to show their support for the region, which is why we’ve also introduced a series of new membership packages, including the OSC Exiles package for the Ospreys fan who’s flown the nest, the Chic Membership for female fans, and two new packages to encourage support among the younger section of the community with a Baby Osprey membership and Ozzie’s Army, the new-look kids club, with each membership package coming with its own range of benefits.

HATE TO SAY IT BUT THIS!!!
it really did work wonders down there and double thier attendences, which have REMAINED that way since this offer as it got people in, who then "got in" to following them week in week out. Plus the free 16s membership?!

Annis, there must be some things in there that out club could employ? I know its rugby, but they are still running a buisness - like we are.

Entertainment and winning games that's the modern football fans way anything other and they stay away simple as that. Football's not what it was we got players who fall over when the wind blows, they couldn't care less about us in the stands, owners think clubs are just toy things and f**k the fans, money has ruined the game people once loved so much.

Go down when it pleases me that's how it is when your half hearted about something, besides there's more important things in life than over paid modern fannys kicking some leather about.

This is the most annoying fact, a catchment area of 1 million and we can't get 15,000 in the stadium on a saturday!! I know shed loads of football loving fans in Cardiff but none of them give 2 shits about comming to watch us!! :old: :old:

It is bizarre when you think less than 5% of the population actually ever go to games, prob about 3% on average. In saying that I'm amazed the club haven't alienated that last few %, Tan surely did his utmost to eradicate any fans we had. Now he's realised how bad his decisions were but they don't just come back that easy vinny as he is now finding out. Others prob have seen the light so to speak, even if we did make it back would it last? I doubt it. Then there is the jacks doing it effortlessly and in the right way, I'm sure plenty of floaters just thought...phuck it, this is a waste of precious time.

first off all its all good saying £10 a ticket with a season ticket holder, but i dont know 1 single season ticket holder that would let me buy a £10 ticket off them, secondly, its not just the cost of a match ticket, its the whole day out, the transport food ect. and its not just one person most of us take family to games. the rising costs of football are just going make attendances drop even further. its all good when you can afford games to point the fingers but those who cant get called glory hunters.

Football in this country is killing itself, but as long as the top 4 are still raking it in nobody cares.

Look at the stadiums throughout the championship, they are half empty. Perhaps the middle class new supporters are more demanding and expect success. Loyalty works both ways. The Dortmund model is where this country used to be 60 years ago. Should it cost more than 5 pints to watch your local football team ?

The pricing structure is insane. Last year i was in the Ninian, our main stand, and it cost just shy of £700 for my nipper and myself. This season we downgraded to the family and almost halved that cost. Why should it be double for basically the same game and facilities ????

I am a free market person, the market setting the costs works best IMO. The management of the club are so out of touch to think that the pricing structure they introduced would be attractive just because we changed our shirts back from where they should never have gone !!!!!!

I have hated the last 18 months, the premier league wasn't worth selling our soul for, our management thought they could ride roughshod over our traditions and expectations with a take it or leave it attitude.....A chunk have taken the "leave it"

There is nothning we can do except start winning games. We have 14K real supporters who are happy with us in the championship. We should have looked after these first and waited for the day trippers to start when we are winning.

Stop dynamic pricing, offer ticket in bundles, as they do in US baseball, say a six pack. Have special pricing when parks games are called off. I always would end up in NP when we were in the basement when the parks were called off.

Time is the only healer here, as our management should have seen this coming !
