Tut tut, you are perfectly aware of the numbers of old school who have had enough, I caved in and renewed but didn't go yesterday, so I was counted but seat empty.

Some have had enough of watching crap, being treated like crap and have decided the best option is to stay in a pub and choose their games, you can't blame them.

I'm not on about the 1,000 or so die hards who were broken by our club,I'm on about the glory hunters and the red shirt brigades etc :bluescarf:

Annis, Surely it is worse for diehards to turn their back due to lack of success than it is for 'glory hunters' to do so. I go because I love my football even though it was dire last year I am ever the optimist. Football is a sport and i therefore results oriented, any team that loses badly regularly in any sport will lose support and that's a fact

I can't answer for those that walked away as they were broken and hurt, worse than others.

What happened to us under Tan was beyond and really did hurt me, I stayed, but I respect those that left as for me it was the lowest point in our history, the rebrand was despicable.

not as low as nearly going out of the league, that was far too low and close at Wolves!

I look back on those days as great days as our fans and club were united and we as fans stuck together no matter what :ayatollah:

I'm afraid those days are long gone but shouldn't be forgotten, plenty of nostalgia and pictures to look over from away with city and wales - lucky there was no phone cameras though!!! :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

Yes, the rebrand was crazy and a pointless, ill-conceived whim from Tan. It did a lot of damage.

I was disappointed with yesterday's attendance as I thought it was a good game.

I know there are a lot of people who are only interested in the good times which is just sad and says more about them than our club.

ps I still think the rugby took a few thousand off our attendance especially given how cheap the tickets were and they ended up filling the stadium.

At least the ones there yesterday were there for the football n offer , not a cup final ticket or hoping for premier league tickets.
The atmosphere will improve with these supporters present

Of course some will argue that is a natural response for a club to have gone fro promotional contenders to mid table survival. The season that perhaps we should compare with is the 2007 against Stoke. This was the season it took off for us by reaching the FA cup final. That season money was on us finishing mid table after collapsing from the top of the previous season. Although we were not top last season our disappointing performance after our year in the top league is perhaps on a par with our collapse of the 2006 class.

So in 2007 we had over 18,000 with 8,000 ST holders. That is a walk up of 10,000. Yesterday we had over 15,000 with ST holders of 12,000. That is a walk up of 3,000. That is 7,000 less to the 2007 which is frightening. Fortunately we at least have a better bread and butter plate with 12,000 STs and this is why Tan had to turn us back to blue.

Good post and I suppose the conclusion is the new stadium has converted 4,000 walk ups to season ticket holders. Of course that is not an exact science but there is some truth in it.

I think it would help the atmospher if we closed of about 18,000 seats and brought all the fans together. We should also stick the away fans up in the far corner if the red stand as Newcastle do, this would quiet them down :bluebird:

Remember when we had 21+ thousand crowds and people complained the old days were better with lesser crowds and no glory hunters.

(A glory hunting Cardiff fan, now there's an oxymoron)

Now they've all left and people complain. Cardiff fans, no wonder the club never goes anywhere, always want a fooking moan

One of the lowest attendance in the division yesterday, this what happens when you have a manager who is completely out of his depth, An owner who knows nothing about football, and having to many very average players still on our books, saying that I will be there supporting my team on Tuesday night

Victor you missed a entertaining game yesterday we probably should of won it and would of if there keeper didn't have a stormer ,really pleased to see passing flowing football and not the long ball crap of last season

We have a much bigger catchment area than all those. When we do get success the crowds are big but because we can never build on our success we never establish a large hard core of support. We attract the so called glory hunters who disappear as quickly as they appear.

That's very true, you need sustained success to hold on to them or at least hold on to a large percentage of that fan base but we have never had this. Were to hard on ourselves, for a club who has had little success and only one year in the top flight the crowds have been great. With the exception of a few clubs most have had years and years in the top flight derby forest Ipswich I can go on and on, we haven't!! If we had the success the jacks have seen you simply wouldnt be able to get a ticket and the glory hunters would become more loyal. :bluescarf:

I have been a season ticket holder for years, but I did not renew this season for one reason e.g. Russell Slade, If I am going to spend £500 on a season ticket then I want to be entertained with half decent football and you don't get that under Slade. I was there yesterday and honestly I see no difference in the style of play against last season. I am not a glory hunter but I like to be entertained and don't mind losing as long as the team are putting the effort in. Slade said some time ago that he has Tan's full backing in signing players but now he says that he has got to sell Marshall before he can sign any decent players. He just says the first thing that comes into his head. Where is the midfielder that he had agreed terms with or the striker. Too many people on this forum make out that they are in the know, but they know absolutely nothing when it comes to new signings.

how can you say style hasn't changed? every man and his dog can see yesterday was light years away from last season's style of play! yes still has inherent problems but style wise completely different, obviously see football differently to most on here.

Define "years"? If you were around when Jones first managed the club we weren't playing much better. In fact we only started playing half-decent football during the famous FA Cup run in 2008.

Also £500 for your season ticket? Are you sitting next to the Queen?
There's plenty of areas in the stadium that cost under £300, I'm only paying £240 to sit in the Canton Stand.

In regards to signings I think we have a very capable squad of gaining promotion, it just how Slade uses it, time will tell. :old:

Re: Yesterday's attendance - some facts and figures

Good statistics but obvious problem with them is firstly not same teams as previous years in league , other clubs more successful than before so bigger crowds and also clubs with lower attendances could be away! so a bit unfair to compare. :old:
but cant argue about drop in our support :o

Re: Yesterday's attendance - some facts and figures

We are not a big club like some want to believe. 14-15,000 is about where we are as a club right now. It hasnt been helped by that lot down the road in my opinion and unless we do something to get the next generation (we are currently losing that battle hands down) then that figure will only go lower.

We need to take stock of where we are and stop pretending we are something we are not, we have no divine right to big crowds and have to work to achieve them. We are not even the biggest club in wales anymore. Hurts to say but its reality, we need to work tooth and nail to win back some support from the youngsters and have a hard dose of realisation.

There have been plenty of seasons worse than last year since the 1960's. If you stomached the mid 80's then you are immune to crap football and would turn up no matter what. In recent history I can understand anyone who stopped going because of the rebrand, but to state the football on offer now is the worst ever is rubbish.
