Let's back our manager and our team. We are tied on points at the top of the league right now. Let's see what the season brings before we get down and call for heads

I just don't get this. Fans have a go at Ole although we are no better off with Slade. We finished in the same position as where he took over from Ole. There is one difference however, at least we played some football under OGS whereas the football under Slade SO FAR has been dire, boring negative football hence the reason why at least 5k have jumped ship.

If the owner tells you to get 12 m off the outgoings anyone can do it. Just sell or loan out the players. It's not rocket science. He has done nothing.

do you really want to go to the CCS and watch boring dire football like last season? If he delivers this season then he deserves credit but if he does not there needs to be changes.

Anyone can do it, but not every manager can improve a team despite loaning out and selling their best players to take 12 million off the wage bill. Slade managed to however and deserves a lot of credit for it.

Unfortunately, the Slade out smilies, the constant, unnecessary digs and now this poll shows the majority of fans on this forum are simply waiting for Slade to fail. The majority of you appear to have no appreciation for the constraints Slade has had to work in last season. You appear to have no idea how much of a difficult task it is to take over an oversized, unfit squad, offload your best players to drastically cut the wage bill and still manage to stabilise our club and improve us.

The majority of you come across as a selfish, desperate bunch wanting success right now instead of appreciating cut backs have to be made for the long term future of our club, especially now we've been turned back to blue and the financial backing has been taken away. When will you learn that employing an experienced manager at this level or a big name will cost us millions we can't afford, plus that manager will then want further millions to bring his own players in.

Slade has joined us for peanuts and did a much better job than other bigger named, more qualified managers. I saw Uwe Rosler be described as a quality manager earlier, yet he got sacked from Wigan last season. Rosler built a squad that ended up getting relegated and our best manager in recent history, Malky Mackay couldn't even save them. Neither manager had to drastically reduce the wage bill like Slade had to last season either.

Slade was voted League 1 manager of the year, assembled his Leyton Orient squad with 30 free transfers, had the lowest budget within the whole of the football league, made a lot of money for that club and took them to within a penalty shootout of joining us in the Championship, yet the majority on this forum don't think he's good enough. I find this incredible, Slade hasn't even had the opportunity to have a FULL season with HIS own squad yet, but I have never seen a manager get so much unnecessary criticism!

I hope Slade proves you all wrong this coming season and I honestly believe the majority of you will be looking very silly this season when Slade surprises you all. I also hope the majority of you will be honest enough to accept you were totally wrong if Slade does give us a good season. Whatever happens, Slade has shown last season that he's definitely worth sticking with and supporting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting champagne football, but Slade has already turned us from Ole's overpaid, unfit bottlers to a team of battling characters who can hang on to win away to Brentford with 9 men. I seriously hope we start well and when the results come, you'll all finally realise the benefit of having Russell Slade managing our football club.

As you say, it appears the majority of fans do not think he is the right man for the job. It depends on exactly what his job is. If it is to maintain championship football at the CCS, he may be the right person. If promotion is on the agenda, then he may not be the right person. What makes you think you are right, and that the majority of City fans, many of whom have been following the club for 40 or 50 years, are wrong. Time will tell, but has it crossed your mind that you may be wrong.

I may be wrong, but even if the majority wanting Slade out are proven right, the criticism directed towards him is currently bang out of order considering the job he did at Leyton Orient and the job he did for us last season. I don't know what else you all expect from Slade. He's more than earned the right to take us into the new season and the least we can do is support him. With a bit of support, Slade may actually do very well for us and prove the majority of you wrong?

Re: POLL " RUSSELL SLADE "

The poll might be a little unfair, as it depends on what you mean by taking us forward. If you mean promotion, then I would say no. If Tan was looking for a manager who would'nt cost a lot of money, and could keep the club in the championship while working to a tight budget, then he may be the right choice. You could argue that maintaining championship status while shedding players and reducing wages is progress. Personally, I believe he has been brought in to steady the ship rather than pushing for promotion.

I agree with you there. I think the main reason Tan has brought Slade in is to drastically reduce the debt while keeping us competitive in the Championship. The way we finished last season with the likes of Kenwyne, Le Fondre and Connolly out on loan gives me optimism we can build on the way we finished and kick on further this season mind. I think Slade is more than capable of getting us challenging for the playoffs this season.

To be honest, if we challenge for the play offs this season and perhaps have a good cup run, that will be good enough for me. We want our club to be run sensibly for the next few seasons. We're never going to achieve anything or attract any buyers with our debt the way it currently is. I think people need to look at the bigger picture and realise Russell Slade could do a lot of good for our club in the long term. Whether Slade takes us up or not, I believe our club will be a lot better off financially from Slade's reign and if that makes us more attractive for a buyer to come in and take us to the next level in the future, it will definitely be a job well done by Slade.

I am overjoyed at the start city have made to the season, and in truth part of our success has to be down to Slade, but I simply refuse to join this hysterical rush into proclaiming Slade as the new Messiah ...in my opinion the jury is still out
