He's gotta pound really mate. How can you just abandon a team. No way are you a true City fan if you jump ship after an average season. Got a bit boring did it?

No, but its about to get a whole lot boring, and I want to enjoy my football again, and I'm not going to get that from Cardiff City. Thats my decision I am entitled to make. No need for others to cry about it. Each to their own.

Well do us a favour don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out and don't come crawling back when we get a bit of success... There's a team that plays good football down the road I here their crying for fans from Cardiff territory

Lads I think you are being pretty tough on the OP. I think maybe his wording should be altered as in 'What foreign team should I follow' because surely if you live in a different part of the world then what's so wrong in wanting to attend games closer to where you live then the UK is ?

My personal reasoning is very different I understand but even the likes of Annis, Mallo and others go to watch their local Spanish team when they are over there.

Just pop over to Ireland and pick a foreign team over there, not to far to sail/fly either :bluebird:

Cardiff are more than the owner and the decisions they make for me. I boycotted the re-brand but I could never turn my back on the club completely. I still looked out for results, hoping they would win, and kept coming on here. However, I do understand your frustrations and ultimately it's your choice. I wouldn't give up the ghost though. Focus on the stuff that matters. The fans and the players.

Anyway, in terms of a foreign team. I have a number of foreign teams I follow. I manage Sunday League side CSKA Sophia Gardens so we have a strong affiliation with CSKA Sofia due to their fans following us on Facebook because of the name similarity. I also have kits of Club Brugge, Club America, and I also managed Bologna on FIFA so I've gained a soft spot for them. It just makes watching foreign football more interesting if you have a team to follow in a number of foreign leagues. Cardiff will always be number one by a country mile though!

Ive adopted partick thistle as a 2nd team as my son now studies in scotland and i cant be arsed with all that sectarian bollocks.
2-4000 crowds at a delapidated firhill takes me back to the good old days of ninian.
signiture song has to be, 'one team in glasgow, theres only one team in glasgow'
if i have a last minute weekend off and flights home are too pricey its the only option.
dublin to glasgow is a 1/4 of the cost of dublin to cardiff

Vitesse Arnhem. They changed their away kit to the colour of the paras in honour of them for the 70th anniversary of the Battle Of Arnhem. They invited vets over to watch matches. They made flags and banners. On their scarves it says 'Lest We Forget' with a picture of Pegasus Bridge. That's a team we should all support:

What about Liverpool or Man Utd,I heard they are both looking to get a foothold in South Wales.

It's never the same though. You can only really have one club if you are a proper football fan who grew up when football was still football. Bonds are formed travelling to away games which cements the club in you, are you going to travel away with galatasaray fans? I doubt it...I think Balkan blue probably is falling out of love with the modern game like a lot of people I know hitting there 40's, another club won't solve it either. A mate of mine lives in one of my favourite cities in the world who happen to have a great team, been going there and watching them for 15 years, but Barcelona will never replace cardiff city, even if I hardly ever bother to go and watch us anymore...... :bluescarf:

I've been going to watch Real for the last 3 years now and that's because of my family background but it's far more interesting than UK football anyday of the week.

Choose well and enjoy

I went to watch barca v Real Madrid at the nou camp in the cup a few years ago. Although it was amazing as I got to see some of the top players in the world and the stadium /atmosphere was massive, it just wasn't the same as going to watch a premier league or football league club. It didn't have the good old British football feel to it (obviously it wouldn't as its elsewhere). No disrespect to the clubs as they are on a much bigger scale to cardiff but something didn't feel right. Perhaps if I went a few times I would feel differently. Maybe if barca fans came to watch Cardiff they would say it's boring! I remember the first time I went to watch cardiff though I had this intense buzz and excitement. So I guess my question is, does your other team have to be foreign? You could choose any team in the premier league, football league or even the SPL? Celtic, Hearts, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Port vale, Plymouth? Just a few to mention? :bluescarf:

Stuttgart & Nantes - two extra teams to support in different leagues and both cities twinned with Cardiff so a small connection to the City.

Keep the faith with CCFC - you'll regret missing out on this season!

balkanblue wrote:Im going to support a foreign team (for reasons stated below) and was wondering which one you think I should support.

Reasons

1. Life is tough enough without having to put up with this circus of a club that Tan has made it
2. Tan is the biggest clown of an owner going after that Hull City one and sadly cant see him leaving any time soon
3. The appointment of Slade is just further proof of lack of ambition
4. Can watch games from abroad easier with big foreign teams

So far, i'm thinking Galatasaray! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Man United or Man City? - or Chelsea possibly

I lived in Rome for four years, and visit as often as I can. Watched SS Lazio a fair bit, and they are my second club. Don't think that there's anything particularly wrong with that. Last saw them in April. Bluebirds first and foremost, though! :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

My lad was there with the City Dev Squad in March and as part of the tour they watched the first team play in a Europa place play-off as Vitesse play in the Dutch Eredivisie. He said that atmosphere at the GelreDrome was excellent, plenty of flags, flares & noise. I notice that Southampton are staying at their training facilities in Papendal as part of their preseason as they are playing Vitesse. I've been nothing but impressed with them as their first team coaches also trained our lads and who said they were brilliant with them.

1. I am Welsh
2. This is my only account
3. I do not live in Wales. I live in Bulgaria, currently in the Czech Republic. My flight leaves in a few hours. Here's a picture for you as well. I know you idiots like pictures and its a shame I cant get the pictures I've taken changed into a colouring book for you to keep your simple mind entertained.

Anyone can have a pic of a foreign country, don't mean they live there.
