One possible explanation;

Steve Clarke, ex Chelsea Assistant Manager, ex Manager of WBA, Premiership experienced.
Russel Slade, ex PE teacher.

Who would you want to work with?

Cardiff is not exactly the centre of the universe, and unless we are able to offer Premier League football or above average wages, we will always struggle to get players to move to S Wales. While I am not a Slade fan, other higher profile managers have had this problem over the years, so probably unfair to blame him every time a player chooses to go somewhere else.

It's a nicer area to live in, better ground and better training facilities surely, we should be more attractive than Reading ??

We both know that, but you know what it's like when you travel outside of Wales. A lot of people think of Cardiff as ok for a day trip shopping, but not much more. Not central enough for some, and although it is our capital city, much smaller than other areas such as Bristol. I think a lot of people think of Cardiff & Swansea as being a bit out of the way, but at least Swansea can offer Premier League football for now.

I think most people realise Cardiff is a great City now, when on holiday most people I meet have been here and loved it, Marshall doesn't want to leave, we are hosting the Champions League final, footballers will know about the Welsh success and potential atmosphere in the ground. I think Cardiff as a City is attractive, Cardiff City with Slade maybe not so attractive, our fans are also not as attractive as we once were. We give players a tough ride these days ....

Happens all the time in football, for whatever reason. It's Stephen Quinn, at the end of the day.

It's hearsay, at best, unless you saw it with your own eyes.

Wayne, I'm not going to say who said it,buts its a fact.

Wouldn't expect you to Annis but there are a lot of agendas out there.

If Slade is missing out then Tan may make a move.

Wayne, I also know that Reading did offer a better contract and longer. Thats the main reason Quinn chose Reading FC, I wish he would be honest.

In which case I will put my hands up and admit that there was probably little that Slade could have done to influence the player's decision.

Makes you wonder though. We were told after the numerous meetings between Tan and Slade that Slade would be fully backed on his main targets. It would seem that backing does have it's limitations though so maybe Slade is actually trying to deal with one hand tied behind his back?

David, That does not mean we offered a good contract?

Anni's could have offered him the world and according to lots on here he wouldn't have signed because Slade is manager!

I think the point most people are making that if all things are roughly equal most players would want to play for a manager like Clarke (or many others) than Slade.

Cardiff are the big unknown. We are a capital city and have a huge possible fanbase. Our potential far outreaches those two. So if Quinn and Ameobi choose those over us, unlucky!.

We have had little in terms of icons in recent years. No players has galvanised the club. If I was Ameobi I would be all over us.
