He was too good for us and didn't have other class players around him. From Sevilla to Cardiff then to Inter. Say no more.

One of the main reasons to why Gary Medel faded in the second part of our Premier League season, was because as well as having to do his own share of the work in midfield, he also had to do Whittingham's donkey work too. I felt sorry for him on his own at times in the middle of the park. If we had of had someone like Huddlestone alongside him in midfield, then our midfield would have been a lot better. He was and still is a quality player Medel and truth be told he was too good for us. After the first month or two I think he realised that it was going to be a long hard season for him, playing alongside players that were no way near his level. I really do think that if he had of been at another Premier League club, that had of had much better players around him than he did here. Then he would have shown the same type of performances that he was showing for Chile at the World Cup, each and every week in the Premiership.

Even though Gary Medel was only here for one season, I still think that he is one of the best players that we have ever had at the club and it was a pleasure to have seen him play for us - even though at the time he was wearing a horrible red shirt, that the club and the fans had no affiliation with. We really could have done with him last season in the Championship. As we were crying out for a player in the middle who could get a hold of the game, could get the players going, could get stuck in, could get the crowd going, etc. Hopefully one day he will come back to play for us and he can wear the famous blue shirt for every Cardiff City home game. Just like he should have worn it for our first ever Premier League game against Man City. Which we won by the way, in case you forgot.

Medel was light years better than anyone who has ever played at the club. With just one or two exceptions he struggled playing alongside mediocre colleagues and, I'm afraid much of the blame lies with Malky.

I got into bother on this forum for favouring Medel. I predicted his class would shine at the world cup. Saying he was out of condition is a bit rich when half the team were unfit! Didn't seem to slow him down at the WC did it?

Gary problem was that he was never in his position long enough to benefit. Too busy wiping others' arses. He was a great worker and yes, Malky leaving caused his dip. Hell, OGS was hardly an inspiration.

Medel wax my total favourite of that team. Marshall was a close 2nd.

agree, big fan of his, I thought his distribution was excellent and showed his quality. People forget it was his first season in EPL in a poor team

he was meant to be a hard man but was timid. a neat passer of the ball but on balance he goes down as a flop.

For a cm player at 8million he had nothing going forward. Appreciate he was a defensive midfield player, and at that he was top class but we needed more than that. We needed someone who could create too.

Agree 100% and when we were in the Premier Malky should have found that player to fit in alongside Much, Medel and Gunnar. Medel Is one of the finest defensive CMs around, almost up there with Mascherano

When you look at some of the real flops in the prem season, I don't think you can mention him in that bracket. Berget and Eikrem were flops! Medel was classy, strong, composed. Quality most weeks.
