Why because he's not very good?
A lot better than paying 20 odd million for a top player.

He is a good player no doubt but that is still a lot of money don't you think?

No I don't it's virtually peanuts for a top player nowadays.
5.7 mill on a free or 15 mill whilst still under contract ..... Dur!

He is a bargain Ryds, He's valued at £15m and is already being hailed as a marquee signing for us. But dont think we just look for bargains, if we did, we wouldn't still be in the Premier league. We look for ambitous players who suit our style, and if that's the case we will spend. Bony £12m Sigardsson £9m, Fernandez £8m Pablo Hernandaez £6m plus Ki, Shelvey costing over £5m. A bargain basement club we ain't! Just a well run one. :thumbright:[/

 Umm ok, thanks for the advice.
Your welcome when it has gone wrong for your club look back on this signing.
Agh! It's ok, I think i get it now! :laughing6:

You won't be laughing when you eventually get taken over by American investors and you will have a team full of mercenaries and get into financial trouble and get relegated and be like Bolton in the championship with a massive debt or worse gone down two more divisions like Portsmouth.

Good on them.

To put it into some perspective we paid 8.5 million for Cornelius. One for the future apparently.

I just realised what happened. All of a sudden we were in a posh restaurant looking at big prices on the menu. Forgot that our cafe charges less because it is not haute cuisine.

Fellers, just adjust the sights here a bit. If Championship sides are willing to pay £3m+, obviously PL clubs have more to spend.

The only way that will happen is in your dreams.Really should stop obsessing over us messing up and concentrate on your mediocre mid table championship debt ridden club . And it`s fantastic owner Mr Vincent Tan (honourable Jack) :laughing5:

Not for a PL striker. Cornelius? He was more!!!

This hang up on the signing on fee is normally jealousy and yes, I am hugely envious of some of these players. But it's down to market forces I'm afraid. Normally, the club selling gets the money. As a free agent, he gers it. Same difference.

Cornelius was on 45 k to be exact but still very shocking but I never thought the jacks would spill that amount of money on a free player even though he is a good player this is a gamble on their part in my opinion.

We paid £10million for Cornelius, they are paying £5.75million. He's on 5k extra a week, my maths isn't great but I'm quite sure that means Cornelius (if he stayed) over his contract and fee cost more than what Ayew will cost.

Didn't Caulker get a 2million bonus for staying a year?

good player but unless swans change there long standing tradition of one man upfront, that caused friction with bonny and gomis! he or gomis is not going to be happy? unless of course gomis is on way out as rumoured before!

Just wanted to add to this. As others have said, Ayew is more of a winger. Most of us imagine he'll play in Routledge's position behind Gomis in our newer diamond formation or on the wing when we use our more usual formation with two wingers.

Regarding friction between Gomis and Ayew, Gomis was quite vocal about our interest in Ayew and that he hoped we'd sign him. Since he's signed, Ayew has said that Gomis played a big part in him wanting to sign for us. So no issues there, it seems.
