However, if you feel the need to get on your high horse on a football forum and start preaching about the above then you really need to deflate your ego. The English language is famously one of the toughest languages to perfect and being better at it than someone else does not make you a better person than them.

Provided I can understand what someone has posted then who gives a f**k if they use the correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar?

Jesus, some people are embarrassing.

Spot on. I worked as a journalist for a global American financial news agency and I cringe when I see people doing this. All I can say that if someone is compelled to correct someone's language to appear superior, then it reveals a lot about that person. Hell, even Swansealad could make himself understood and he has the IQ of a dried-out dog turd.

So remember folks, when you see a grammar nazi that is feeling down in the dumps, give them a hug and say...“There, Their, They’re.”

In my work emails I realised that I didn't know the difference between apologise and apologies.

So when I meant to say apologies for da da dahhh, I put apologise. So an email would read: "Apologise David, this will not happen again".

I also don't knwo the difference between affect and effect. I've looked online but still don't know. I just try and stay away from.

The word 'to' doesn't indicate motion. It precedes a verb

To walk
To run
To fly
To go
To see

To stand
To sit
To lay
To kneel
To lean

These are the infinitive forms of the verbs. The -ing' endings are past participles.

Spot on Zabier.
I couldn't have put it better myself. Well I could but I would have probably spelt it incorrectly!
There are some pompous pricks about but this one is top of the class.

I'm a pompous prick?

It was a tongue in cheek message because of the amount of people who do correct other people's spelling and grammar. I saw it on Facebook and thought it funny. I then decided to correct Brighton and Hove Albion's spelling and grammar on a variety of his posts after his OTT reaction.

People on here are too wound up.

Don't make me check your posts.
