Danny Hill so much promise but no return, Nigel Rees another who flattered to deceive and of course Rhys Weston.

As a 10 year old, I used to love watching Paul Wheeler. Complete rubbish but always tried his best. Richard Langley did my swede in. But the best for me was when Eddie Johnson scored, the crowd had been egging him on every time he touched the ball, and you could sense that finally this could be his moment. And when that ball went in, everyone went mental, the players, the fans and of course Eddie......Fair play, gets my vote

Eddie Johnson. Ronnie Moore( though he did everything but score).Lee Smelt for his name alone and Lee Baddeley for losing so many balls by kicking them over the stands and delaying matches while looking for his contact lenses.

What a moment that was. I was right behind that goal in the Grange End (admittedly at the other end of the pitch!) and the ball bounced about seven times before going in. I've only experienced euphoria on a higher level three times before with City. Scott Young scoring against Leeds, Chopra scoring against Swansea, and Turner scoring against Liverpool. That Johnson goal comes fourth after those was absolute pandemonium in the stands. I saw grown men crying and hugging each other. It was beautiful.

Have to agree with Forever Blue that I don't think there has ever been a more popular 'failure' than Ronnie Moore

Had a superb strike-rate at Rotherham and was City's first (if I remember correctly) £100k signing but couldn't hit a barn door for us!

One of the hardest working and 'honest' players I can remember and I also wore the "I saw Ronnie Moore Score" badge!

Leo for me too, never forget the Stoke play off game.
Lennie pulled off a master stroke almost of the Slade magnitude, Leo spent most of the second half playing a left midfield role :o , this guy on the bob bank slated Leo nearly all game calling him a plank of wood.
Lennie took Earnie off near the end & Stoke scored twice, Leo was our only hope. The rest is history! :old:

I remember this as well as another Lennie cock-up against Oldham. We were leading 1 - 0 looking fairly comfortable when Lennie, trying to be clever, took Earnie off. Oldham seeing the threat removed promptly pushed forward and yes, you've guessed it.

Eddie Johnson

I remember being told E Johnson had come up as the goalscorer for Cardiff on the Sky sports score prompter and just assumed that they actually meant Roger because he was far more likely to score!!

Went to the Derby game the following week and saw him score in both nets  what a legend
