Interestingly when Slade was at Grimsby A midtable finish ensued in the 2004–05 season but despite some disgruntled fans calling for his head, Grimsby spent most of the 2005–06 season in an automatic promotion spot in League Two, also managing to topple both Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur in the Football League Cup. ;)

Sorry mate, but I loved the Goodies! :sladein:

Nukes loves the goodies. You should have seen him at reading when Bill oddie was on the pitch. I had to restrain him from entering pitch to embrace his lifelong hero.

Playoffs once?

Try three times in last nine seasons and got to final every time though lost.

2006 - Grimsby 0-1 Cheltenham
2007 - Yeovil 0-2 Blackpool
2014 - Orient 2-2 Rotherham (lost on pens)

Only Grimsby were not punching well above their weight and even they went downhill fast after Slade left.

Feel like some people would be against Slade even if he gets us playoffs next season!

Here's a question for all the Slade doubters
how many clubs has he managed that he was expected to get promotion

None including us. But another question is why has he never managed a fancied club?

So he has met expectations at most clubs and sometimes exceeded them
so give him at least one more transfer windows where hopefully he will be backed and not told to sell
and then judge him

Sorry but the answer is not a fashionable manager and very few are given a chance

He will be working with very limited resources compared to our last two managers, and has a good track record of giving stability to clubs going through a period of transition. I honestly think that's why Tan has employed him, to provide stability rather than an all out push for promotion. If Tan was seriously considering a quick return to the Premier League, I think he would have chosen a manger with experience at this level, and with a better track record than Slade. As someone has already said, Slade has never actually achieved a promotion at any level, let alone at this level of football.

Come on wez mate. Most of these have barely played or had little impact.

I do like the look of peltier. But there are question marks over most of his january signings

Decent signings yes but they are not going to get us to the Premiership.
The majority of high earners will be gone in the summer. The ones we cant sell will be given away.
The players coming in will not be of superior quality.Unless Tan throws serious money at the team.
Slade's team will play the same safety first tactics that you all love. He doesn't know anything else.
Give me an away trip and I will go for the craic all day. Going in to that Stadium for 90 minutes knowing what is going to be served up in sterile conditions is a big no no.
I enjoy going to the club before the game, i enjoy the banter on the bus, i enjoy drinking in Canton. I even enjoy the walk to the ground. It's what comes next that i don't like. I am alright when I get back on the bus and have got a bow in my hand.
I could always stay in Canton now why didn't i think of that before.

I will judge him purely on the evidence of what I have seen on the pitch, what I have seen of him :sladeout: in interviews, and my assessment of him when I met him.

He is a clueless buffoon and his football is shockingly bad.

Slade out asap.

Slade has not managed to alter our style of play, even without Kenwyne we look for the long ball too often. He was Tan's man and has done his bidding. Some of his signings, like Doyle, Peltier and Kennedy could prove bargains. However, he does things which totally contradict his intentions. Sending two of our best players out on loan and then saying the rest of the season mattered was plain ridiculous. For me, there are much better managers out there yet Tan will stick with him because he won't appoint someone who'll stand up to him. The problem is with our owner and not with Slade.

1 play off appearance

We won't make the play offs next season but if that means we are a step closer to Tan getting his money and going I'm all for it

Annis,
I dont know why people can't understand what's happening down at the CCS. When we got relegated, it seems that Tan was happy to keep the squad as long as we were in contention for promotion. Once it became clear we had no chance, he did what any owner would do....offload all of the big earners.
Lets be fair, a lot of them were useless or we never saw much of them anyway.
In my eyes I wont miss many of them and as for Slade, we are stuck with him so we have to back him - how can booing him and slagging him off help performance on the pitch?
Anyone who witnessed the 80's and 90's will appreciate we have had far, far worse days than these.
I havent got my ST for next season yet, but will get one and will back whoever is wearing the blue next season. :bluescarf:

I honestly do believe that every manager deserves a pre-season. Slade had little chance coming in, he came in with his head already up to the sand.

From what I heard at the end of last season Olè Gunnar Solskjaer didn't give the players any sort of training or fitness regime to standard to return by. (not sure if this is true) just what I have heard.

considering its almost a completely new team that have had to gel together, finishing mid table is a decent achievement. I may be Naive or maybe just too positive for this board sometimes

I genuinely believe Slade deserves a fair shot at a pre season with the side & that we shall be mounting a play off chasing campaign next season.
