Like it or not football is no longer the tribal experience for fans that it once was. You had working class men entertaining working class men. There was a bond and a togetherness.
The game is now an entertainment package and people decide where they spend their money to get entertained.
If the highly paid players, who have no links to the club or the fans, are unable to entertain then potential customers will spend their hard earned money down Cardiff Bay of a Saturday afternoon.
The entertainment options within a city like Cardiff nowadays are massive. To fight against it you produce a better product or at least a value for money product.
I wouldn't say that the tribal experience is no longer present or indeed has died out. It could be still here and even growing, if the club chose to treat supporters as the important part of any club that they are, instead of like normal customers that purchase their entertainment or products from any random shop. In Germany for instance, the clubs actively encourage tribalism and loyalty, they give their supporters 100% respect and are rewarded with an extremely high proportion of season ticket holders. Dortmund for instance have 55000 season ticket holders, with 1000 of them being English.

The tribalism has gone because the sport is now a business. The cost has made fans pick and chose where they get their entertainment.
In Germany the clubs maintained the fanaticism by selling season tickets extremely cheap.
I would guarantee that if CardiffCity sold season tickets as low as the Germans then the CCS would be rammed and the fans would again feel an affiliation to the club.
Imagine a standard season ticket price of a few hundred quid. The place would be rammed and the club would make more from food, drink and merchandise.
It'll never happen in the UK though the greed is palpable.

We all knew there would be fickle fans that came and went with the Premier League experience. I don't think this is as black and white as that though.
Topcat made an excellent post. There are 101 or more reasons why people are not renewing. Some are genuine, some are questionable.
I could never completely disassociate myself from the club. The rebrand made me boycott before I had the chance to finally experience us in the Premier League. Do I regret it? I have a great family and fantastic mates that I've spent more time with over the past 3 years because of my boycott so no, I'm sorry to say I don't.
Will I be going back when I can afford it? Of course. I have no just reason to continue to boycott regarding the club. The simple fact is that my life didn't stop for Cardiff when I boycotted. My life has continued to grow and I am now in a position where I can't afford money or time to get a season ticket but I will go when I can. Then either 2016/17 or the season after I will hopefully be better placed to get a season ticket.
People need to get off their high horses. If you're there then good on you. Give all your support. It's poor form to slag off those that can't commit to a season ticket when you don't have a clue about the reasons behind all their decisions.
I was there in the basement and I never saw us in the Premier League but I will never slate a fellow Cardiff supporter. Football is football. You will always have the die hards and you will always have the plastics. Don't waste your time worrying about others. Focus on making sure you enjoy being a supporter.

Tan has ripped the life and soul out of the club. I will never forgive him. Couldn't care less that he initially saved the club either. The club would have been better off going to the wall and restarting in the lowest league on that Friday then be put through the suffering thanks to that egotistical loon. I hope he loses all his money. Let's see who he's got left then.

I honestly and naively believed a return to blue would restore the love I once had but it hasn't. It just feels superficial and I hate Tan. He might have saved this club at one point but its effectively dead to me thanks to his actions. He ripped the heart and soul out of the club. The damage has been done. I just hope he decides to sell up. I despise the man.
who do you want to take over
the loyal players who are giving shit performances
so your not bothered about the blue as it does nothing for you now we got it back
so damage cant be repaired , you must be so perfect that you have never made a mistake
so you hate and despise tan hmmmmmmmm
Jog on you tool. You lick Tans backside but are quick to stick the verbal knife into true bluebirds like Whittingham. Get your priorities in order you naive fool.
Tan has ruined the club. He believed because he saved it that gave him the right to play with his new toy and do as he pleased and treat it like crap with utter contempt. Sorry, but just like all the gifts in the world can't make up for crap parenting neither can all the money in the world make up for what Tan has done to our club.
The damage has been done. Also, we all mistakes yes but I doubt anyone on this board has bought a football club, systematically ruined it with inept ownership and idiocy and made it a laughing stock in the media. A bit of perspective is needed.
Tan crippled the club. That persistent tool of a Jack Roathie was correct. Time to admit it that we should have hounded Tan out years ago cause now we just have a club that is like a zombie version of what was once a true passionate club proudly admired up and down the country. It kills to admit the Jacks were right but time to face facts, they were.
Our club is dead thanks to Tan. It will never be the same thanks to the actions of that man. Oh and before you tell me I wanted it and loved the premier league I didn't go to a PL game and not been since Brighton. I won't set foot in the stadium until that disgusting dictator is gone.

If Vince has to make a point of organising singing, it shows how far down the bog football has gone.
In the old days it just happened.

From FB
Jamaine Simmonds Cardiff fan base is broken to bits.
Wayne Dibs Anderson I will always follow the team but unfortunately club is run my people who have not got a clue how to run a club and organisation is poor
Stephen Selway We have always had fickle fans but never to the extent in what we are seeing now. Vincent Tan disrespected the genuine fans in saying he was prepared to lose 25% of the fans over the rebrand, well that figure is looking more like 50% now
Wed Apr 22, 2015 9:25 pm
football have changed, fans have changed, been said a million times, dont care about losing just want 110%from our players, dont get that anymore, the pay packet at the end of the week, which by the way is in the thousands comes first
Thu Apr 23, 2015 11:26 am
This is getting silly now. Most non ST holders like myself will be in the CCS next season. Many non ST holders like myself will be travelling away next season. We've just chosed not to throw £400+ at the club and attend every game next season. Why should we after the shit we've had off the club past couple of years?

How things have changed in 18 months with local football fans!
Every Monday morning I'm the butt of jokes again all the oldies from the 90s 'asked cardiff what time is kick off Saturday they said what time can you make it' and ' don't come and watch me when I'm bad' after the weekend premier games and cup games loads of status about man utd Liverpool.
Many of these so called lifelong fans begged me for tickets in the past!
Well I'd like to say goodbye you part timers he who laughs last laughs loudest you know who you are negative fickle football fans! I hope you enjoy your 6 games a season at the millennium stadium!
one life one love one club cardiff city football club.

My thought's exactly. They will be back one day telling the old tail of how they never left'and can you get me a cup ticket.
Got no problem with SUPPORTERS voicing an opinion but those who turned their back on the club at a whim I do!
Ok who is up for a bob bank 90s reunion next season? I come out of retirement to lead the singing like the old days and we will have a laugh! we can get a block sorted in the canton stand and start again.
quite a few good singers allowed back next season

Each and everyone to their own opinion I suppose
Watched a program last night about parents protecting their kids when they had clearly been caught out
That's FICKLE in my opinion
