Rumoured new manager coming in this summer..

Sun Apr 05, 2015 11:23 am

Cardiff likely to axe Slade this summer. Vitória Setúbal boss Bruno Ribeiro being backed for job by Mourinho (both born in Setubal)

Re: Rumoured new manager coming in this summer..

Sun Apr 05, 2015 11:26 am

I'd take Frank Bruno over Slade

Mark Warburton a must!

don't like the sound of that at all, surely experience of managing in football leagues is a mandatory requirement after the Ole disaster

Tbh I can see this happening as we know Tan has contact's with Mourinho and Tan of course would take advice of him.

I don't think it would be harsh at all. He's steadied the ship but I think any decent manager could have done that & improved our style of play but I just can't see Slade taking us any further & certainly not the play offs.
However, to bring in an inexperienced manager from Portugal who probably knows very little of Championship football would be another big gamble IMO.
Warburton for me.

"City linked with shock move for Portuguese manager"

Sun Apr 05, 2015 1:32 pm

Just read this. Wonder if there is any truth behind it.

Cardiff City linked with shock move for Portuguese manager Bruno Ribeiro
14:08, 5 April 2015 By Steve Tucker

Votiria Setubal boss 'coveted by Cardiff' according to reports in Portuguese media, amid claims Jose Mourinho has recommended him

Cardiff City are being linked with a move to bring in Vitória Setúbal boss Bruno Ribeiro this summer, according to reports in the Portuguese Press.

Media websites in Portugal claim the Bluebirds have already contacted 39-year-old Ribeiro.

He is reportedly interested in the job, but keen to focus at the moment on keeping Vitória Setúbal in the Portuguese top-flight.

The reports claim Ribeiro, who knows British football well after playing spells at Leeds and Sheffield United, has apparently been recommended to Cardiff by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

The two men each come from the Portuguese city of Setúbal and have previously worked together.

Portuguese newspaper ABola headlines a story ‘Ribeiro coveted by Cardiff’, while Mais Futbol states ‘Cardiff want Ribeiro as coach’.

According to the reports Ribeiro, who is out of contract at his current club this summer, has asked for time to think about a potential move to Cardiff.

The Portugese media claim Ribeiro is on Cardiff's radar
However, it is said he has instructed his agent to keep in contact with the Bluebirds over the situation and plans to make up his mind next month.

Vitória Setúbal are two places outside the drop zone in the Portuguese top-flight with seven games left to go. They have a five point cushion over the bottom two.

Ribeiro is desperate to keep his home town club amongst the likes of Benfica and FC Porto in the Portuguese top flight and wants to focus entirely on that until the end of the season.

Ribeiro began and ended his playing career at Vitória Setúbal and took his first steps into management there too. He also managed lower division Portuguese sides Farense and Moura, before returning to boss Setubal for a second time this year.

He was a left-sided midfielder who also had two spells as a player with Vitoria. Ribeiro made 52 appearances for Leeds between 1997 and 1999, before moving to Sheffield United where he played 30 times.

The links with Ribeiro come as many Cardiff fans still openly express their doubts about Russell Slade as Bluebirds boss.

Cardiff Manager Russell Slade
Slade took charge in the Welsh capital back in October, but has seen his side have to settle for mid-table mediocrity this term.

Season ticket sales are down for the 2015-16 Championship campaign, with many fans voting with their feet.

As the reports break, Slade is busy preparing his side for their next Championship outing, a home clash with Bolton on Easter Monday.

Meanwhile, officials Cardiff City have distanced themselves from the reports, maintaining they aren’t true.
