I agree but I don't share the view that if you sell then your chances of getting in the prem are gone. Burnley, Bournemouth, Blackpool none of them spent big but they had a decent team. It does diminish your chances no doubt, but always life after they go.

If Manga remains he must be our captain next year

Yes, you can get promoted by building a team, but look at the teams you mentioned and particularly Bournemouth, they have a dynamic young manager who has built a team that is playing attacking attractive football. What have we got? None of that. We score a goal and we go back into our shell. When was the last time we smashed a team by 4 or 5 goals?

Would love to keep Manga but if £7m is offered then I can't see how we could turn it down.

The questions are though Carl

Who pockets the money?

What type of player will replace a class player?

Are we going for promotion or relegation next season?

we were all moaning when caulker went but we brought manga in ,if we do get 7 million hopefully it will be reinvested in the team

Will believe it when it actually happens. I agree with cost cutting but not in selling our best players.

Selling manga will show a complete lack of ambition and will send season ticket sales down by a large number imo so would be a bad idea imo.

' I will be gutted to see him go '

Mon Mar 23, 2015 8:50 pm

Bruno Manga our best defender by a mile, quality centre back and we will struggle to find a good replacement :(

But he's had over 2yrs to build a team! a slight differential in time don't you think?

The reminder of the season ticket said well be gunning for promotion or something like that for next season.

I understand if we got rid of players like kenwyne because he doesn't bring that much to the team compared to manga but if we are just looking to get rid of players like manga there is no way we will be challenging for promotion next season and I can see why people wouldn't want to renew.

I be absolutely gutted if we sell our best defender Manga, sell him and we will have many fans not renewing or turning up next season thats for sure! :?

I agree, but if we can get £7m then that's a good deal all round, as long as that goes back into the team in some way, but we all know it won't.

I agree that new managers should have time but based on what's happened since Slade come in is that we have gone backwards rather than forwards. I feel his hands are tied by the club off loading the better players but so far his selections have been inconsistent, we are playing dire football and we are not playing as a team. That may change over time but realistically it is going to take a long time. I think if you are fans if they foresee us getting promoted in the near future the vast majority would say no. Based on how things have gone so far, it's just being realistic.

Yes - but he deserves to be playing at a much higher level. There are more than one of the top 5 Premier League clubs who would be getting an upgrade if they put Manga in ahead of their existing centre halves.

I'd love him to stay but it would be unfair to ask him to do so. The same now applies to Marshall. They are the only 2 of our players who are Premier class (perhaps Fabio but inconsistent). It may be harder to get rid of the others mentioned on the list, unless we continue to subsidise their wages when we sell them. It worries me that the others will go t other Championship clubs and come back to bite us on the backside.

But Turner is good enough for the Championship. We would only have needed Manga if we had got promoted.

Wez, if it "All" gets invested in the team, then fair enough.

If we want promotion next season, we need to build our team around the likes of Manga,Marshall,Fabio etc.

Other wise,we will lose even more fans.

Spot on. Massive step backward if this happens and we cab forget promotion next season if we sell all our best players. We need to be building and moving forward like we are now not going backwards again.

Agree, arguably the best centre back we have had for some time... We should be building a back four around him not selling.

I'd rather we off load, Morrison, turner and Connolly instead if manga. 3 of them must be earning the same or more than manga...

Re: " Manga to be sold in summer "

Mon Mar 23, 2015 10:18 pm

There's no way people will renew if there's just going to be a sale of anything worth value. We will have another season of parachute payments.

The club are not showing any ambition by putting up for sale the best of what we have..

If we are going to sell a big name. Maybe sell Marshall for a decent fee and use Moore...

Manga is far too good for the championship. Given that we are not going to get promoted at the end of the season in any event, Manga would never stay. Why would he? There will be a number of premiership clubs (mid/ bottom half or newly promoted) who will want him. Therefore, we might as well get the best price we can for him and move on. I don't see the point in debating him staying or building the team around him, it's just not going to happen. Personally, I don't blame Slade he's only working with the budget constraints he inherited.
