Totally agree, strange decision, but gives a youth defender a chance, as well as Ralls and Fabio

I suspect he may be gone at the end of the season anyway. Watford probably want him as a "lucky charm" - he has already been promoted twice with Reading and us. Either way, he'll be back playing for a Championship club next season - definitely out of his depth at Premier League level.

As somebody else said, lets give the youngsters a chance over the next few weeks.

Anyway, we still have Kevin Theophile-Catherine to come back from loan and play for us next year!

Everyone is saying it's fine because he's got a big wage..how much is he actually on? :?:

Re: " UPDATED " Awful Decision City send first team player t

I doubt its the short term money, its only for 6 weeks !!!!

We have probably have offered a new deal but on a lot less than he is on now. His agent has probably put the feelers out and up come Watford.

The current squad didn't do the business, like 4 years ago under DJ. Savage cuts need to be made early and build with young skilful players.....

There is no indication that Vinnie won't sign decent players

Ridiculous!

Who's decision is this - Tan's or Slade's.

Just like Le Fondre. One week he's a regular starter, the next minute he's shipped out on loan.

What's going on? Good enough for the first team one minute and then effectively told that you're no longer needed and pushed out of the club.

Is Slade actually having any say in these things or is it down to Tan? Is Tan that desperate to cut costs that he's willing to loan out any player at any time to anyone in order to reduce the wage bill?

Or is Slade making the decisions, and confirming once more his complete lack of man management ability and his utter cluelessness?

I'm assuming Peltier is fit as would be a bit of a shock otherwise.
Not surprised though, nothing does with Cardiff City anymore.
This is up there with Le Fondre & his loan at short notice and can only be about money.
Connolly was always part of the squad, didn't particularly like him being used as a full back never mind left back.
Like him as a centre back and feel he's a better player & defender than Morrison except he doesn't carry the same goal threat from throw ins & corners (our main attacking threat).

Time for Jazzi Barnum-bob

KTC won't be back. On premiership level wages so will be sold as quickly as possible.

I think that this shows the current ambition at the club. From management to playing staff I believe that plans are in place to do no more than retain our championship status next season. I honestly believe that there will be no concerted effort for promotion and that once again we will be a mid table side (if we are lucky). I can't see Tan throwing much more money into the club as he appears to be losing interest in us judging by the amount of time spent at the CCS. If there was a way out for him without a considerable loss of money, I reckon he'd be gone like a shot.

To all the crybabys please read......WE ARE COST CUTTING ITS BEEN SAID 100 TIMES BY SLADE MONTHS AGO WE KNEW IT WAS COMMING, loads more will follow to the quicker people realise that the better. I'm sure the moaners was creaming there pants over the rooneys down the ccs last season that cost money to get there and its being taken back clearly. So either accept what's going on or don't go as like I said its not something new we knew what was going on months ago. If slades appointment didn't tell people this then f**k all will.

Personally I think he has played well this season and see it as a big loss. Why can teams like Watford, Blackburn, Bolton etc etc see the potentially and quality in our players yet we can't seem to be able to?

Re: " UPDATED " Awful Decision City send first team player t

Yet another baffling decision. How do you go from starting on Tuesday to not required on Thursday?

If Watford go up it'll be four promotions on the spin for Connelly from this division.

So does this mean Barnum Bobb is in line for a call up on Saturday.

:bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Connolly signed a 2 year contract extension on 1st October 2014 - taking him through to June 2017.

Totally baffling decision to let him go out on loan. One of our best and most consistent players - at RB or CB.

Turner out for the season, Declan John shipped out to Barnsley, Peltier only 40% for the weekend and Ralls (out of position) preferred to Malone at LB last time out.

That is threadbare. If Peltier isn't fit for Birmingham, who will Slade play? Fabio/Ralls/Bruno/Morrison again, with Malone and Gabbs on the bench?

Or is he going to use the u21s for the rest of the season?

Good move for connolly. Personally I feel he should be starting alongside Manga. But we ain't going up and ain't going down, a good chance for him to try and get a good move.

Didn't he sign a new deal at the start of the season.

Re: " UPDATED " Awful Decision City send first team player t

CF3BLUE it's not baffling we are cost cutting there all for sale or take some of there wages on for rest of season its what it is. Alfie was playing weekly to he went out on loan. There all for sale to get wage bill down.

The worry for many of us is that we have seen all this before. When Goldstone was chairman we went from chasing promotion to the top flight to selling anyone we could get money for, subsequently plummeting down to the bottom division and almost dropping out of the league. Gates around 2,000 and a standard of football that was so poor that todays team look like Barcelona compared to then. Perhaps we are worrying about a repeat of those days as the signs are there.

Im fine with this. Club actually being run sensibly for a change. Reserve defender who won't be here next season loaned out for final few games when we can't go up or down. Not a problem, good move for all.

Re: " UPDATED " Awful Decision City send first team player t

Thu Mar 19, 2015 5:44 pm

Surprised he's been allowed to leave considering he's played so much for us, but we aren't chasing anything now so if someone is offering to save us £100k+ In wages for rest of season, why not say yes?

I don't particularly rate him anyway. And judging from everyone's reactions in the stands since he came to us, not many others rate him either. But now that they can have another go at our management, suddenly everyone is a bloody Connolly fan.

Living above our means for years and this is what happens soon as tan appointed SLADE most knew with half a brain cell what was coming with his stripping of assets and parachute payments. It was obvious back then but even more so now as it's been said for months on end we are having a fire sale.

I can't be bothered to sift through 54 posts, I knew you would see sense. I was surprised and my initial thought was why do that? You have to look at it from a different angle, if he doesn't figure in next years plans then why wouldn't you loan him out? For the record I like mr steady Eddie but if fans knew we were keeping manga Morrison and turner with maybe a youngster or new cb would they be throwing toys out the pram!! Get a grip lads it's Connolly not manga :bluescarf:

Re: " UPDATED " Awful Decision City send first team player t

This is clearly clever business from the club

We wont go up this season and watford needed a player, they will probably cover all the wages and maybe possible a loan fee?

We are not going up or down this season so can understand the reasoning

If people ask why Ralls etc dont play maybe this is a chance to give someone from the youth a chance?

yes Ian most knew but how many of us expected to take it to this level.

Is Connolly big earner? I don't think he is. Just how low are we going to save a penny?
