One poor team and one very very poor team and the very very poor team won, if that makes sense.

On the way out, I spoke to a couple of Charlton fans and I told them they were the SECOND worst team I'd seen at the CCS all season...

"Who were worse than us?" they asked

"US!", I said!

For me, the game turned when McAleny was taken off and I'll reserve judgement on the 'penalty' until after The Football League Show later tonight, but initially my impression was that the referee was looking for a reason to blow his whistle!

So Russell Slade, Scott Young,Morrison and even Marshall say we are improving? ? ?

This surely is a joke?

Slade Why drop Joe Ralls?

Why drop Kennedy?

Cardiff City 1 Charlton 2
Crowd 20,488(incl approx 500 Charlton fans) Actual attendance approx 14,000.

Moore, Peltier, Connolly, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Whittingham, Gunnarsson ©, McAleny, Noone, Macheda, Jones.

Subs: Wilson, Fabio, Ralls, O’Keefe, Kennedy, Revell, Doyle.

City had in the last 2 weeks had back to back away wins on their travels for the first time in over 2 years, but now they had to find their home form as their last home win was over 2 months ago v Fulham, the day we returned to Blue. :bluescarf:
Charlton started this match 1 point ahead of us in the League Table, with both of us midd table and safe from relegation :thumbright:

Well for thousands of City Fans,We would like to know where we are improving? ? ?

In our last 17 League games we have won 3 just matches against some of the worst sides in the Championship. :o
The football has been dire, even when we have won and the crowds are leaving in their thousands.

There is No entertainment , at one point today some fans were falling asleep and I felt like joining them.

Yes some will say Charlton robbed us with a disputed penalty, but remember the other night at Rotherham, it all equals out over a season :ayatollah:

The football today from both poor sides was like there was nothing to play for, which contributed to a dead atmosphere in the ground.

First half, there was no real football and a player who does give his all Gunnarson limped of in the 29th minute,to be replaced by Joe Ralls.

0-0 half-time and the crowd were asleep or were on their way.

After about 8 minutes City started to have a spell and in the 54th minute Kenwyne Jones to Macheda made it 1 nil City :thumbright: :thumbright:

I thought yes lets now go and beat this poor Charlton team, but no,we let Charlton in to the game and the more the game went on ,the more Charlton were in our half.

74th minute, you could see it coming 1-1

80th minute Joe Ralls tried to fight back, but shot over the bar.

City then faded and Charlton started to see that we were there for the taking, they poured forward, but I did think we were capable of holding on,when in the 86th minute, a totally controversial penalty gave Charlton a 2-1 win

I did feel we were robbed, but lets be honest we were awful against an mediocre Charlton side and a draw was all we were really worth.

I keep saying it,Slade has to go and we need to show ambition in the management side ASAP.

My man of the match Manga :thumbright:

Up next a difficult away game at Brentford next Saturday. :thumbright:

Look forward to reading these, another reason why I didn't go today :bluescarf:

This club and team has lost its way and supporters are totally fed up with the same dribble given out by both Manager and players both on the pitch and to the media.

Brentford away nil points Bournemouth home nil points in front of 8000.

Any half decent side will beat us and thats a big big big problem :ayatollah:

Annis I agree with you, but there is no point in getting rid of him now,it's just more cost for the club. Get rid of him and young in the summer and appoint Warnock to get us promoted.

Slade is cheap, I would like to see Trollope till the end of the season,so we can see for ourselves.
Then if he fails we need a quality/experienced Championship manager.

Ah yes, but Slade will be handsomely compensated, unlike the rest of us, when he gets his marching orders!

He had nothing to lose by coming here (he was 'on the verge' at Leyton Orient) so anything he gets is a bonus and (like certain other recent managers) he can blame Tan on his way out the door!

From our side of things, I thought it was a lot better than some of the football we've seen since Slade took over. The recent home games against Reading and Rotherham were two of the worst games of football I've seen, and we were nowhere near those levels

Guerra, Le Fondre...those guys would be scoring for fun today, in my opinion. We've created yet another new style of play for ourselves yet let go of the kind of strikers who'd benefit from it.

I just don't think we were "awful" today. I get where you're coming from though, and agree Slade is absolutely dire and the only manager who I've sung at to be fired. I'd be very surprised if he was at the club in August - I suspect a quiet departure from him this summer.

We were very bad today. I think that we were better in the first half but extremely poor in the second.

When we scored In the second I really wanted us to build on the goal. But as usual we switched off and let them get on top of us. I thought it inevitable that Chatlton were going to pull one back. We also invited the penalty by playing too deep for too long.

Why on earth was Kennedy dropped and why was McAleny taken off? Also not good that Ralls was dropped for Whittingham. Although with Slade that was also probably inevitable.

Very cheesed off tonight.

Turning point for me
Noone on the right flank was giving the defenders all sorts of problems
Kennedy came on for McAlney , so Noone had to switch on to the left wing
When this happened we lost momentum and Charlton came more into the game
We had a good flow to our game and dominated for long periods but no end product
62 % possession first half against a very poor Charlton team , who offered nothing and were there for the taking
Defeat to a crap Charlton side is very hard to take

For me, the game changed when Whitts went off for treatment and we had 10 men for a few minutes. Up until then, although not setting the world on fire, we were in control and containing an uninspiring Charlton attack.
During those minutes, they seized the initiative and the game swung in their favour. You could sense they found a belief they could take something from us and their attacks became more purposeful and dangerous.
Should Whitts have been subbed to reduce the time we were a player short?
Also, our final ball was mostly poor again as were Whittingsm's dead ball deliveries.
We'll stay up because of the rubbish below us but we are going nowhere but down in Slade stays through to next season.

Yes I agree for periods of the game,we had improved and looked solid at the back, but I had to remind myself how poor Charlton were. This is a very poor division this season and we have to beat sides like Charlton at home. Our home record is abysmal. There was no real quality other than Manga.

The reason I said awful was because Charlton were poor and we in periods struggled against them. We should of got a draw at least,
