Major boost for Cardiff Airport

It was WAGs decision to divert funding from the Welsh NHS to buy the airport and you say it's was £52 million but that's not the case as they have given the airport further funding with the latest cheque signed for £13 million!!! You are deliberately missing the point. They didn't divert NHS money they have a small reserve for stuff like this. Wales spends more per head on health than the English do. Also the WAG have taken a massive hit on all budgets because of massive underfunding compared to what the Scots get (we deserve the same as the Scots don't we??) and £52m (or £100m as you claim...which it is not by the way) is small potatoes compared to the hundreds of billions wasted by the UK Gov on rewarding greedy bankers for their incompetence (which is morally wrong and which you choose to ignore). Stop knocking Wales at every opportunity FFS. At some stage in the near future the UK Gov is going to make a decision to spend upwards of £3billion to renovate the Palace of Westminster. What a terrible decision that will be and what a waste of taxpayers money as you like to point out. How many lives would that save??

No I wouldnt say they are low cost, although think they may call themselves low cost. I dont think the flights will be cheap but hopefully reasonable.

No figures were stated in the debate but it would be very disaapointing if the airline has had a shedload of cash (our taxes) and in the end just offer new routes which are unreasonable in price

But nowhere near as disappointing as the UK Government giving hundreds of BILLIONS of pounds to bail out the banks to cover for the fuck-ups of greedy bankers Why do you continuously worry about the spending of £52m which may or may not turn out to be a good investment(only time will tell) but you are more than happy to ignore the waste of an absolute gigantic amount of money which will have a knock on effect for future generations?

Where is evidence they took £65m directly out of nhs funding? I know they spent that to buy and boost airport! but was it taken from nhs budget or wag budget as a whole?

Hang on Westminister hands over a lump sum of cash and its up to WAG on how they spilt it into the areas which are devolved AFTER they take their slice off it first. They choose to divert £52+ million to purchase the airport out of that Westminister funding and that £52+ million which could have gone into other areas like Health, Schools etc. Now many of you want to see the Airport being a success under the WAG but personally I would prefer they foces on making the Welsh NHS and Schools a success first before they tackle vanity projects like an Airport.

Now after listening to the radio show yesterday and then watching the local news afterwards it shows just how much WAG propaganda goes out via the Welsh media. It was stated 'Flybe isn't classed as a low cost airline' which was supported by another poster on here who has worked at the airport. Yet even through the programme was even on BBC Radio Wales the BBC Welsh News was still claiming it to be a 'low cost airline'.

We all know that to complete with Bristol you need a low cost carrier not a carrier which is going to be just another carrier based at Cardiff which costs hundreds of pounds more per seat than if you are flying from Bristol.

They have a budget for transport too as well as a small reserve to spend as they please. A couple of months ago the WAG announced an extra £400million for the Welsh NHS which is over and above their normal health budget. You would take joy if the airport failed and I for the life of me can't understand why anyone living in Wales would want the airport to fail.

But that ship has sailed a long time ago so time to think positive and support the best airport in Wales.

Doesn't have to be. They can now sell Cardiff and relocate and probably make money now the Ecomony has improved since they brought the airport.

It's too far away from the motorway to ever make it a good airport
