Would guess it would depend on whether Slade and the players respected Malky or not. If Tan has banned them then yes that's out of order but has he actually banned anyone? Is it not possible that the rest of the Board share Tan's views or are you ITK on this Carl to make such a big issue of it?

I have not stated Tan has banned anyone

I am not ITK and making a big issue of it, I am asking questions on where it ends, if directors are boycotting as suggested by Sky Sports then is that personal choice or through instruction ?

I attended an evening at Bryntirion FC last year where a club director sat shoulder to shoulder with Malky Mackay so unless that directors opinion has changed I find the boycott odd, is that explanation of my thinking clear enough for you ?

Well said Carl.

It is an awkward situation, but a representative should be there to fly the flag for Cardiff. Otherwise there is no voice for the Bluebirds.

Also, consider the 300+ fans making a long journey to the match and feel they are on their own??? Not acceptable.

If Tan doesn't want to be there, fair enough (when has he been at CCS recently), but come on!!

Yet again, a laughing stock in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Bad move imho.

Cardiff City board to boycott Wigan match over alleged racism

By David Ornstein

BBC Sport

The entire Cardiff City board will boycott Tuesday's Championship game at Wigan in protest at what they allege to be a club owned and managed by racists.
It is understood the Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has instructed directors not to attend the match and they are said to support this position.
Wigan owner Dave Whelan was fined £50,000 for making racist comments about Jewish and Chinese people.
He also served a six-week ban from all football-related activity.
However, a Football Association disciplinary commission said it was "satisfied" Whelan "is not a racist" and did not intend to cause offence.
The 78-year-old's comments were made as he defended the appointment of Malky Mackay as the new Latics manager in November.
Mackay is currently under investigation by the FA regarding allegations he sent "sexist, racist and homophobic" text messages during his time in charge of Cardiff.
The Scot admitted sending offensive messages and apologised, adding that he is not racist, sexist, homophobic or anti-Semitic.
Mackay was sacked by the Bluebirds in December 2013.
Wigan declined to comment.

As a Board of Directors, I can't see that they have any other choice but to boycott the game.

Someone has to stand up to racism, I know there's an agenda going on with the owner and Malky, but looking more broadly the FA reaction to Whelan, to John Terry, to Malky etc, has just been pathetic and mealy-mouthed platitudes.

See the bigger picture boys - try and see past any dislike of the owner.

Where does it end though Jim, should they not attend games when Richard Scudamore is present over his sexist emails? The matter has been dealt with and it's time the club officials stopped acting like children in the play-yard

Can't see any other way round it this season, investigation into MAlky still ongoing, the club has to stand up to racism. Once the Ada have announced their findings against MM then time to move on. Anyway, apart from Borley, do any other Directors attend away games?

I hear what you're saying, but Malky is specific to our club; Scudamore is not.

As for children in the play-yard, I'm not so sure. No fan of the owner, but if it was me fucked over backwards for my £100m++ and called all the names under the sun, perhaps I might feel a bit racked off.

Just a thought.

I cannot believe the self righteous clap trap being spouted here by some I will welcome Malky, biggest mistake Cardiff will ever make!!!!! As for racism what about Tan's complete and utter contempt for our westernised Welsh, British culture? The removal of age old symbols, the disregard for fans feelings, the imposition of alien symbols and culture to CCFC ????? I am all for action against overt racism the kind Chelsea carried out in Paris but to compare it to what Malky done? How many of us have lived in England and been called "sheep shaggers" Taffy et al.The reason this country is sinking is an adherence to a cancerous culture of fawning to those who seek to destroy us just look at our Trojan horse with the Muslims. As for Tan a multi Billionaire being deeply offended by a text !!! Spare me as for sensitivities how can we operate whilst simultaneously being slowly strangled with political correctness. The trouble is it is now a self serving industry for the "Pious" .Welcome back Malky we miss you !!!

Fair point Jim, my feeling is that Tan feels more anger about Malky's failure in the transfer market than anything else.

Re: UPDATED. " Cardiff City board members boycott Wigan game

Having supported my club since 1963 I began to believe I would never see top level football, Malky delivered it and for that I will always be eternally grateful, but now in the sporting world he is the opposition and we do whatever we can to beat him, but I cannot understand how Mr. Tan, with all the privileges his vast wealth has brought him, remains so obsessed and consumed with hate, for a man whose successful career he all but destroyed.

Correct me if I am wrong but Malky never discriminated against any player, because of their race, creed or colour. If you call Malky a racist for the derogatory remarks he made in private (didn't Mr. Tan pay Private Investigators over £200,000 to unearth them), then you have to agree that any derogatory comment made about a person different to yourself is racist and then you will have to boycott anyone who called you a "Welsh so and so" or "Taff".

yes if they believe that Wigan and malky are racist ,us as fans have no idea what is Said behind closed doors between clubs and I think there's more to it. It seems a lot are bashing the club today on this but if tan and the club feel they are making a stand against racism then surly they should be applauded annis ?

Just plain embarrassing. As someone said earlier, we are yet again in the headlines for all the wrong reasons as VT continues his personal vendetta as he winds the club down after losing interest in his toy. If he put as much energy into running things properly from the start then we wouldn't be in this mess. The only people who really suffer in all of this are the true fans who are there rain or shine, irrelevant of the owner, manager or league. And for the bleeding heart PC brigade, if MM was a real racist, do you really think that Kimbo would have joined him at Wigan? Get real & move on.

A real split on the views here. I've found some of Tan's decisions to be beyond comprehension but think he's got this one spot on. There have been some abhorrent scenes recently including Chelsea in Paris and West Ham on a train through Stamford Hill; so to see Cardiff taking a strong stance on this is pleasing, IMO.

Good luck against Wigan tonight.

For goodness sake, can't you see that this makes the club look small!!

If, as some have posted, Malky, Whelan and Wigan are ALL racist, which is plainly NOT the case, fair enough, the club should boycott the game by not playing. The fans should stay away and the players should refuse to play. Ridiculous.

The actions of a minority do not label a whole club in my opinion.

We have a new poster who is a Latic. Seems a really descent bloke. Not a racist or homophobe or any other form of bigot. Should we boycott him too?? Of course not!!

It is understandable for Tan to absent himself but to order the rest of the board to stay clear is pathetic. It does nothing to further the relationships with fans and just gives people the impression that the club is run as a dictatorship (strange that!!!).

just saying. :bluescarf:

We should all be standing up to rasicm, sexism and homophobia in the sport and showing it the red card.
