For a handball to be an offence the referee must deem it deliberate .

There is nothing in the Laws of the game which states ' Last man' it is a complete myth .

For the goalie ball hit chest 1st and then hit hand! Must be accidental as he was in motion and could not avoid what ball did , it was ball to hand? Not other way around! As for other points you are right how can you miss something so clear? :laughing6:

It should have been handball outside the area as his arms were raised - the same rule applies to goalies as to all other outfield players.

So are arms raised in penalty area but not all are penalties as I said and law states it as to be deliberate or hand to the ball! Otherwise every time ball hits s hand its a free kick or penalty? The ball clearly hit him on chest and rebounded onto his hand so wasn't deliberate by goalie regardless where is hands were?.

The referee correctly stated it accidental . The advice referees are given are hands in an 'unnatural position ' which is a good starting point but not written in stone because every handball is different .

NO question was opposition players were 6yds out marking players, only goalie on line ball wss on edge of wuadrant and was played forward a couple of feet to player on line ! Law says if ball played forward and only one opposing player between him and goal your offside? So answer the point is he offside? Accept law says can't be given offside thats not in dispute! q, is player in offside position? Anyway that's my last point on this

It is not an offence for a player to be in an offside position .

Apologies for my remark about being offside from a goal kick,I always thought you could be given offside.

No need to apologise . There are laws of the game I didn't have clue before taking a refs course .

I would certainly recommend a refs course to anyone even if you don't feel like being a referee . It would certainly open your eyes .

no you can't

You can't be offside from goal kicks, throwings, corners and when you're in your own half.

I thought the same until we played Rotherham. On goal kicks Revell went behind our defenders, run forward and flicked them on. Worked pretty much every time

Firstly Martin Atkinson had a bit a mare at Chelsea on Sunday and i would agree that The Ref we had for the Brighton game was not the best.
In the same way that players have a bad games, so do referees, the afor mentioned games do not make them bad referees. We are all armchair critics who see slow-motion replays and all know better. I believe that until you have ever stepped onto a pitch to referee 22 players who are all trying to con the hell out of you and everyone else then you have no idea as to what is involved in refereeing a game of football or call them "Arse incompetant"

I would pay to watch some of the uninformed idiots who I have to put up with every weekend referee a game .

Re: Premiership refs my arse incompetant

Just to clarify the points raised;
1 -YOU CANNOT BE OFFSIDE FROM A CORNERKICK, regardless where the ball is placed in the arc.
2- YOU CANNOT BE GIVEN OFFSIDE FROM A GOALKICK, neither can you score directly from a goalkick
3- Handball can be given even if it is not deliberate, as if im the opinion of the referee the players hand or arm is in an un-natural position when struck by the ball.
I think I know what im talking about on this one! :ayatollah:  :bluescarf:

No you cant, a goalkick is an indirect freekick!

Re: Premiership refs my arse incompetant

Tue Feb 24, 2015 9:47 pm

No it isn't . Once the goal kick is outside the penalty area it is in open play.

When did you take a referees course, who was your instructor?

If the ball goes directly into the opposing teams goal from a goalkick a goalkick is awarded to the defending team

there is a difference between a direct free kick and an indirect one.
a goalkick is an indirect one so a goal cannot be score unless the ball is touched by another player.

A goal kick is not an indirect free kick and a goal can be scored direct from it, only for the team taking it.

It's clear as day in the LOTG.

Something so basic as Law 16 and the poster says he has refereed at the top level .

Shocking .
