Why are people so obsessed with Possesion

Not many teams in any leagues go away and get 50% Possesion!!! Plus teams that win away very rarely get 50% or more Possesion

Possesion is a flawed stat for gods sake

Swansea used to get 60-70% Possesion and draw 0-0 or even lose cos they tap the ball around the back four for 30 minutes of a match easy to get good Possesion doing that

It's about final third possession that's the stat that matters time spent in opponents half or third gives you the correct impression of a match

I mainly agree with you here Smackerz. The only thing I would add is the only stat that matters is the score and you can't score without the ball, so if you don't want to rely on own goals, possession is quite important. The trouble is it is just part of the picture as you said.

I still say that accurate passing is needed in any build-up if it's not route one every time. The players need to have a feeling for where their team mates are at all times.

.... Or we could just go 4:4:2 and hoof it up to KJ. :laughing6:
