I fully expected him to push wigan right up the league but I think he got lucky at Cardiff and now showing his quality.
It's always a marriage of talent and opportunity. Malky had both with us.
There are many talented people that could be successful but only a few get the chance to prove it.
What is not known is when opportunity comes along will a person take it and succeed or will they fail? Ole anyone?
You could argue that Malky screwed up his opportunity but you can't prove he isn't talented, his CV has "promotion to PL".

And his CV will soon show relegated from championship and with a good squad.
I don't like him but thought he was a solid/good championship managers but his performance at wigan makes me think otherwise.
I'm delighted he is failing.

I firmly believe that he has a true affection for the club and could very quickly get the players playing his style of football (he will also inherit better defenders than he ever had first time around). But what he vitally does appear to have is some respect from Mr. Tan, because he certainly won't get any help from the gutless shower who masquerade as Directors, if they had one "ball" between them then maybe MM would still be our manager and we would now be looking down on our South Wales neighbours! Russell Slade seems a nice chap but if he fails to relegate us this term then I'm sure he will succeed next time.
Bit harsh on Russell Slade, but good post

Got to be Mackay as he was the only one to deliver success even if it was occasionally boring as we were so efficient. I've been watching the videos of previous season games the club have put on YouTube recently and looking back I'm amazed Dave Jones never got us promoted with the talented players he had at his disposal.

Dave jones all day long
Only man in 10 years to play some decent football here
Say what u want about his attitude etc but you get called a pedo and go through what he did and see how much you like the media and people in general
People say he had a huge budget did he?
Rebuilt season after season yet we still challenged play off final FA cup final remarkable achievements
Wage budget might have been larger some seasons but that's down to the person signing the cheques as many have said to defend other managers on here, his transfer dealings here were on the whole pretty damn excellent they have paid themselves over many a times
Honestly belive given £10m in actual funds and te same wage budget as Mackay he'd have easily done the job of getting us up
But selling to buy and buying cheaper makes life tough and this league is a lottery most weeks
Done a fantastic job here have him back hear right now in a heartbeat

Anyone who would want a dirty racist at our club is on one, no right to talk and about Tan if you'd happily employe a racist.
Malky had to moment to really build our club and fùcked it up through his own incompetence.
Oh and he loved the rebrand.

I honestly believe some like him because tan doesn't like him.
Some fans take the moral high ground when it suits them.
Why else would they want someone struggling with a good team in the same division, madness.

People seem to hold it against DJ because he made a good squad on a limit budget compared to people like malky.

Based on resources Dave Jones every day for me

1) Malky MacKay - Galvanised the team, Best manager we've had since Eddie May, struggled with the step up to the Prem and got his tactics wrong sometimes, but I stil think we may have stayed up (or been a bit less of an embarrassment) if he'd not been sacked.
2) Dave Jones - Brilliant Manager, who for me just got a bot jaded at the end and lost his way with tactics and team selection, leaving it too late in games to make changes etc. I would have him back tomorrow.
3) Russell Slade - Too big a step up, seems clueless, says there's team spirit but we can't see it, the football is very bad, Only a miracle of four wins on the bounce in Feb would be good enough to make the doubbters think again...I think we'l stay up but he's got to go at the end of season...
Lee.
PS> I'd take Eddie May above all of them.

It's true Malky delivered promotion and his team played with heart but I thought he dismantled a style of play which Jones had instilled and I believe that is why we are suffering somewhat now.
The football under Malky was appalling all be it successful. Cardiff fans, as well as seeing players playing for the cause also want to see decent football and Malky deconstructed any football from our club.
For a short term fix we have sacrificed football. Malky was and is 'anti-football'.
So for me, despite my long-term dislike of Jones as an individual, he would be much better for this club right now than Malky.

Warnock, until Pullis next becomes available, the others all have too many faults...........
These fannies need a good kick up the arse........
Sat Feb 14, 2015 8:57 am
Slade? - definite no and he needs to go asap
Jones? - No thanks, did ok but that is not good enough for me
Mackay - Did not like the way he played, but set us up and we were hard to break down, if they were the only three it would be malkey for me.
Ultimately though, none of the above are good enough.

Please tell me this is a wind up! up until now, he holds the record for a promotion winning team in spending more money (£50 million) in their first season than any other promoted team before him or since.
Sat Feb 14, 2015 11:50 am
I wouldn't have any of them. This is part of our problem, always employing second (or third!) rate managers.
Sat Feb 14, 2015 1:25 pm
Stunned at the Malky loving.
Do people forget he was willing to pay £8m on Tom Ince?
Or the fact he paid £11m and £40,000pw on Cornelius?
Best ever some say
Nah...

Which one of these would you choose as Cardiff City manager right now if the decision was yours ?
Do you keep Slade or go back to Dave Jones or Malky Mackay ?
Once you have made your choice, would you give a reason why you made the choice.

Malky Mackay. He should never have been sacked. If one of my employees was making my company money and he called me a fat taffy b*stard in private'i would put it in my diary to be used as an ace for any possible future problems and leave it at that.
Sat Feb 14, 2015 2:40 pm
i'd choose malky. though a bigot and hypocrite, i think he'd do better on the same resources.
dave jones, decent manager but incredibly arrogant in comparison to what he's achieved in the game. as for slade, he's only been here 5 minutes, but in that short time hasn't convinced. as long as he doesn't threaten relegation he should be given til next season otherwise its difficult to compare.

Malky - we played some good football under him and our players worked their socks off every game

Hes not doing so well at the moment though is he? And he mate an utter balls-up of preparing us for the Premier League. Constantly playing second rate personnel and expecting them to perform against top quality footballers. I feel more infuriation against Malky than any other manager because it should never happened as it did. He was given every opportunity to assemble a squad which would have maintained their Premier status, but he fucked it up.

100% Malky although I don't like Jones I would also take him over Slade

Malky made mistakes yes ,but to be honest Malky ,moody and Tan were all a bit niave with all aspects of our premiership experience ,perhaps we fans ,included could have learned and grown together ,but it wasn't to be
Sat Feb 14, 2015 8:25 pm
Jones for me,played good football the way it should be played and a lot of the time with teams made up of loaned players,I always have believed if he had been handed 10m to get us up,then malkay yes he said some racist things but I dont think he is as bad as some ppl like to think and even if he is its not as bad as what slades doing at city at the min, slade should be arrested for crimes to football
