"We are not shopping at harrods now"

I figured that one out Russell when tan employed you.

A big turn around of players is needed then slade has no excuses although I feel the under performing squad he got when he showed up have let him down big time with performances and commitment on the pitch and this cost cutting will mean less debt to hopefully but then again some want million pound players and tan out in the very next thread :bluescarf:

It should follow that if the quality of the product goes down, so does the price.

The ticket price should drop proportionally to the reduction in the value of the squad.

Exactly this. We dont want to shop luxury if it means our future will be in doubt. What we want is a manager and team that puts in 100% graft, playing people in their correct position and picking players on form not name :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

no, the crowd want entertainment and results, with the latter clearly being most important.

all this bullshit about fans not caring if we lose as long as the players put in a shift is nonsense. the fans have been pretty ruthless towards the team whenever they under perform due to a lack of quality on the day in recent months.

Which is what all sensible managers and clubs do. Swansea always buy players to suit their ethos and tactical setup as does Rodgers at Liverpool. Of course Slade's style will be different but I for one welcome the max exodus of prima donnas and players unwilling to play for the shirt. I'd rather be getting beat 4-3 by Hartlepool with a side that tries than getting slaughtered at home to the likes of Bournemouth by a side only willing to put in a 45 minute shift at best. We need to:

a) accept the club financially is in a mess
b) that we need to relay the foundations the club is built on
c) that is going to take time

Rome wasn't built in a day.

See your point but i have not seen much evidence of the graft as a team, individuals yes but team no.

Not sure Slade is the contractor i would hire to build Rome, yet alone a shed in my back yard. What happens when Slade get the sack in a few weeks? Another philosophy? Or are we sticking with 1990 hoofball?

Don't think it matters where you shop

MORE IMPORTANTLY

You need to know what you need when you go shopping

I'm really fed up with the contant sniping on this board at Russell Slade. He has been left to deal with a squad of players by 2 failing managers. I suspect all of those players were on stupid wages. Ironically, the one who I thought was most overpaid has actually been our biggest success this season - Kenwynne Jones.

There is no point in thinking about a change of manager until next summer. If the team struggles, then he goes. If he stabilises and starts to move us in the right direction, then he gets the chance to stay on. In the meantime, let's start supporting him and the team. Then next season we may be able to move forward again. :ayatollah:

Point still remains, it's about time we cut our cloth accordingly but Slade is not the man up rebuild or consolidate!

Exactly, the sums don't add up at all, no way we are in so much debt after the last 2 seasons. We might well owe him 130 million but he must have pocketed the 90 or so that has come in. About 50 mill would be Bout right. He will get that back over the next few seasons....

I dont think we ever did shop at Harrods; thats why we got shipped out of the Premier PDQ!
Over the years most of our buys have been from Poundstretcher, but maybe one or two have been purchased from Costcutters.

This is my take on where we bought the bulk of our last Premiership squad, in terms of their quality.

Marshall (John Lewis)
Theophile-Catherine (McArthur Glen)
Andrew Taylor (Poundstretcher)
Steven Caulker (Debenhams)
Ben Turner (Woolworths)
Gary Medel (Fortnum & Mason)
Peter Whittingham (Tesco)
Aron Gunnarsson (IKEA)
Kim Bo Kyung (House of Fraser)
Jordan Mutch (Sports Direct)
Peter Odemwingie (New Look)
Craig Noone (Marks & Spencer)
Fraiser Campbell (Superdry)
Craig Bellamy (C&A)
Andreas Cornelius (Caerphilly Market)
Mark Hudson (Burtons)
Don Cowie (Supersavers)
Kenwynne Jones (ASDA)
Eikrem (Morrisons)
Mats Daehli (Waitrose)
Wilfred Zaha (McDonalds)
Nicky Maynard (Peacocks)

Personally I'd love to see us as a sustainable solid championship club dabbling with promotion. We did alright after our last firesale.. Can Slade do it? I think not. Hopefully he won't get us relegated and we can dust ourselves down and kick on from there #bringbackphilmulryneandjeffwhitley

Is it Tan's money? I thought he loaned it to the club and oversaw it all being spunked away!?

That's a fair question Jimbo.

Were we not named as one of the 40 richest clubs in the world the other day? :laughing6:

And we still have another two seasons of parachute payments to come I believe.

I thought the whole idea of parachute payments was to cushion the blow of relegation and being left with expensive squads of players on high wages?

One can only guess what is happening to that money.

its going on the loan of hundreds of millions of pounds tan as lent us depends on who you believe? :o
seriously its being used to balance books for ffp and tan possibly leaving, but probably both! :old: 8

Agree, I think that the owner has totally written off promotion and is happy to recoup as much as he can and then sell the club off.Its right and proper to run a tight ship but to strip all if your assets when you still have Premiership parachute payments coming in shows how drastic it has gone. We are being modelled into a lower league team.
