Yeah I did it earlier with the Middle sheild, the eurostile didn't come out bold enough and I'm in process of changing the font on the circular badge.. Not so easy as I made it to look like an actual badge and so the font is just made up. I will post it later when I have time. Cheers for the comments. Really appreciated. What software you using?

How did you get the 'real' badge effect?

20 years of practice and countless hours in Photoshop. I drew those stitches each one.

Wow that's impressive! Great dedication :notworthy:

Great effort Karl.

Love the round badge. Not keen on the Malaysian logo though.

Some great efforts there, personally I prefer simple round badges with no yellow, just plain blue and white and I think that's what we will end up with ......

Nice badge Karl, but why the Crescent & 14 point star? Do you know what this represents on the Malaysian flag??

May change the daff for a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis the national malaysian flower. that should give them enough.

Exactly, & while not wanting to court controversy, whats that got to do with our history?

only a few days ago, the debate was all about our clubs traditions, culture, heritage & values.

No disrespect to Malaysia, but if that is the case, why not throw in something representing the Lebanon? Or India??

Have not persons from these country's been strongly associated with Cardiff City AFC in our recent past?

Tan has said that he would like some representation for his culture in the badge.

It's got nothing to do with our history, it has to do with our owners history and bridging gaps between us.

Re: " Mixed New Badge idea "

Do not get deluded that we will get free reign over the choice of this badge.

VT has done a big climb down and he will want something in return.

He will want recognition that, for the moment, it is his club.

We will get a representation of our history but any compromise badge will need a hibiscus or crescent. It will also need a bit more red.

Perhaps a circular line of red stuching on Karl's brilliant compromise badge and we may get it past VT

Yes, I understand that, which is why I said at the beginning of this thread "we will probably get something different, as long as there is input from the fans". There has been a lot of really good designs put forward recently, Karls being one of them, but like you said, Vincent Tan is going to have the final say on it, & I hope most of our fans will be happy with the result,,,after all, you are never going to please everyone.

Re: " Mixed New Badge idea "

Wed Jan 14, 2015 1:38 pm

The way I see it is that VT will ultimately give us a badge he believes incorporates his culture and our identity. He may even have 5 great badges already made up that we would all like and if that were so I would be more than happy. All I'm showing is that it can be done to please both fans and VT. There's not just my badge, other people have been making badge designs and they should all be taken into consideration. That way all the fans would have had a choice.

It's part of the malaysian flag. It "represents" islam on the flag (because that's the main religion) but with the two symbols together I would say it was just representing the flag, rather than it's religion.

You wouldn't see the Welsh flag, for instance, and think of a long forgotten king (which is what the dragon "represents") you just think of Wales.

Why does everybody think the dragon represents Tan? As far as I though, it was put on as a symbol because you don't get many red bluebirds, and they went for the Dragon because it's been on the Cardiff badge before and is a symbolization of a welsh king?

Because when he said he wants to be represented on the crests for his cultures and beliefs, then the red dragon immediately springs to mind as he didnt stop harping on about it when explaining the rebrand and its merits for the far east markets?!

I have had a go a designing badges, using the Ninian Park CCFC logo, lots of blue, big round bluebird, 70's yellow and white, the bluebirds nickname, and it all looks pretty good, until you start adding Tans representation symbols, and then it just looks cluttered and inconsistent.

I am dreading the final choice, as unlike some, the club crest is of massive importance to me.
