I'm guessing the crusade started this whole hatred between Islam and Christianity. So may instead of slaughtering innocent people how about ban religion? It's done nothing but good humanity back from growing up.

the reason for this attack was that the newspaper published a cartoon of some sort about the so called prophet mohammed, which the islamists weren't too pleased about. this was not a random attack, it was because they believed they were avenging the so called prophet. there is nothing to do with mental illness there, its just a rational response that a fundamentalist muslim would have to someone insulting their (so called) prophet. that is what makes it so scary. its sending a message to the people of france that you do not insult mohammed.

if another paper did the same thing (i.e. engage in free speech), there would be a significant risk of another massacre.
