I am staggered to read people claiming Slade is blameless in all this. Remind me, how many times has our manager actually picked Daehli? Our midfield has hardly been a shining light throughout the lower division non-entity's short reign. Either Slade thinks Daehli is not good enough, or he's happy to tow the Tan line. Whatever the answer, this again proves that our manager is out of his depth. Tan out. Sack the dinosaur manager.

Not that I think he would Play for a big club right now. Don't think anyone thinks that. Of course he has flaws he is 19, not the finished article. I think people think he could very well develop into a top player, in time.
But this move is in keeping with his desicion to go Cardiff over man utd. He knew he wouldn't get games at man utd. His mo is to go for a smaller club where he thinks he can get games. He wants to play every game.Some young players want the glamour of a big club and spend years in dvp,loan moves. That's not his thing.
Apparantly Freiburg has wanted him since he was 16, So he must feel wanted there. Who wouldn't to feel wanted after the experience he had with slade? People forget he is just a teenager.

Potentially could've become a lot more. This kid has bags of ability and with the right guidance and playing in a system that compliments his strengths he could grow in to a top footballer. A shame to see him go in my opinion.

we bought him a year ago for I believe 500k and sold him for a profit ,a player who wasn't a first team regular and never really set the world alight

It's a real shame. A very talented player, but has not had the chances to prove himself this season. Having said that , at least Slade gave Harris an opportunity and he took it...looks very promising.

Seems like football writers disagree with you they think Freiburg robbed Cardiff .... Don't think that is the correct transfer from molde. WOl said he was about 2 mill from molde.
He will be worth a lot more in a few years. If the club hasnt got a good sell on clause they are daft. Apparently Freiburg payed 2 mill upfront, might be something more to it.

Absolutely pathetc decision. I have to assume that Slade made the decisin and also the decision not to play the lad ov er the last couple of mojths. Words fail me. We should have built the team around Daehli (our most creative player), Manga and Marshall. Instead we play Whittingham who is on the downgrade.

Cardiff City have today announced that a deal has been struck with SC Freiburg and that Mats Moller Daehli will make the switch to them when the January transfer window opens.

The transfer is subject to international clearance still but there aren't any complications expected on that score.

The deal is a permanent one, not a loan, and the club statement announcing the news carried the obvious thanks for his efforts during his time with us.

Having been brought in by former manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Daehli went on to make 13 starting appearances for us, with a further 13 from the bench, and in that time he scored once in our three all Premiership draw against West Bromwich Albion last season.

The club haven't confirmed the fee, but the press are leading with a sum of £2million for the 19 year old.

Disgusted by this. A young, extremely talented player with his head in the right place. There is no conceivable reason why the club shouldn't fight to keep Mats and help him develop. Just bloody stupid. And if he were to leave, talent like him shouldn't be given away for pennies. I'm sure he could have gone to lots of better clubs than Freiburg, but the kid only wants an opportunity to get some high level pitch time and get to develop further.. Utterly useless club management.

Norwegian youngster heads out of South Wales to the Bundesliga.

Once thought to be a star in the making with the Bluebirds the 19 year old has been mostly overlooked this season with his style not in keeping with the rigid formations preferred by Russell Slade.
Daehli will join up with Freiburg in January but he's already been pictured holding up his new shirt.
'Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that an agreement has been reached with SC Freiburg for the transfer of Mats Moller Daehli, subject to international clearance,' said an official statement.
'The deal will be completed on January 3rd 2015 in conjunction with the start of the transfer window.
'We would like to place on record our thanks to Mats for his contribution and wish him the very best for his future.'
Last week Daehli's countryman Magnus Wolff Eikrem saw his contract terminated at Cardiff City.

Freiburg is last place (with the same amount of points as Dortmund). They're 4 points off 10th place, so there's harldy a catastrophy yet.

Sad and a big mistake. To be honest i find it hard to understand what they are thinking about. They way things have been lately, this was very expected, but i still just don't get it why Slade did'nt use him.

Awful treatment of a real talent. Total lack of ambition by club and manager.
