No Fabio, sticking a cb at right back and right back at left back. Hmmm.

The bench is ridiculous. Manga, ravel, jones, fabio and matts all good enough for premier league Teams.
Not so sure about most guys in the starting line up.

A really disappointing first 20-30 minutes, but the own goal seemed to give the lads a bit more spirit. The lack of tempo the first 20 minutes were shocking from the home side, especially in defense. No pressing at all, and plenty of room between the midfield and the defense for Reading to play ball in. But God seems to be on our side tonight. 37 % possession at home, 2 shots on target and leading 2-0. And now he even gave us the advantage of playing 11 against 10 for the whole second half.

On the positive side, Whittingham had a few good passes, Noone has been quite fresh on the left and Le Fondre had a good run ahead of the penalty.

No thanks. Make it an ugly, boring, scrappy second half with no action and take a 2-0 win!

Come on, they are down to 10 men if we can play flair players now we never will.

Season ticket holder but couldn't make tonight - now listening on the radio and obviously happy with the score but ....
Less possession again
2 goals that are not from open play again
They are down to 10 men and score

If we win it just papers over the cracks

Well you got your wish with Daehli and Fabio coming on to link up down our right hand side...and they attacked us down that side to win the corner and score!

Happy with the win, and happy to see Dæhli and Fabio playing together again - Fabio going on runs and Dæhli threading the passes. A bit surprised, to be honest, that Dæhli was Slades´s first substitute. Where there scouts on the tribune again? :laughing6:

We looked very confident in the second half, although their goal from nowhere seemed to amp up a daff Reading side and it became a bit more exciting than needed in the end. We should have killed the match earlier on, but the strikers where not the sharpest ones today. Le Fondre does many things right, but he needs to practice hitting the goal, cause he never does.

But most important: We won!! :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Wasn´t the ball passed out wide from the middle? Or my memory is bad? What I saw, was Fabio doing well to block a cross, it was not like he was poorly giving away a corner.

Watched the game online tonight, strange game we defended a 2-0 lead with extra player. Was expecting us to go for it with extra man in second half.At least we are winning at home consistantly but still playing a limited game with 2 strikers who cant score.

Fabio blocked the cross but the opposition always seem to get a lot of joy attacking us down the side where Daehli and Fabio are playing together. Fabio got back well to block the cross but if Connolly was still on, he would have been in a better position to stop their winger getting that far up the pitch in the first place.

I love Fabio, he's committed, courageous, all action, resilient, a little terrior. But because Fabio makes lots of attacking runs, it leaves a lot of space in behind him; which is why Fabio looks as if he's running about everywhere trying to attack, but then trying to get back and put in recovery challenges and blocks, the one tonight leading to the corner.

Connolly has stepped in at right back and doesn't do half the running Fabio does. Connolly keeps things simple, makes the game look easy, is defensively solid and rarely puts himself in a position where he has to sprint back and make last ditch recovery tackles like Fabio.

Fabio is a wing back, not a full back. Fabio could only get away with playing his natural game at full back if he has a midfielder ahead of him willing to drop back and fill in to cover like Don Cowie. So playing Mats Daehli ahead of Fabio is a complete and utter disaster defensively!

Can't say anything positive about tonight's game sorry ...... We are as predictable as Slades team selection !!! No wonder the atmosphere is so bad when we have to watch shit like that. I know we won but watching us is like pulling teeth

Winning is what is important in this league.

It seems like the more flair you have the less chance you get of getting on the pitch.....I think the 2nd half was made for Ravel as he would have kept possession & run the show.

I´m pretty sure the players do what they are told to do. Don´t you think the whole idea of putting on Fabio was to see some offensive runs? With Fabio and Dæhli playing together, we suddenly looked able to create something, not only passing the ball on our own half. When both Dæhli and Fabio are in attack, obviously someone else needs to cover. That´s what sitting midfielders are for.
