agreed.. but in his last to internationals for Norway, he did extremely well defensively.. tracked back, tackled, etc. (while also creating chances on the other end). he's a smart kid. he knows what to work on, and from what i've seen, he is getting better and better.

he has a good touch and has flashes of brilliance, but i can only see us getting about £1.5m on the open market as he's lightweight and doesn't really fit in to a 4-4-2.

Nor fitting into a 4-4-2 says more about the manager than him.

if a manager has a system that he wants to play then thats that. although i do agree, good players should play. the thing is that daehli must adapt to the rigours of tough championship football and warrant a selection ahead of people like noone and pilks.

though i think someone like ravel morrison has much more ability than daehli and could be willing to come here when his contract expires at the end of the season.

You really beleive that? Ravel want to come here and warm the bench?

Unfortunately a talent like this has presented himself to us at the wrong time. Although gutted at the inevitable of Matts moving on. I'm glad the club identify wot a talent he is, and he's not best suit to achieve his potential with Cardiff City. I'd love to see Matts blossom in a regular 4-5-1.....Matts adopting a free role. Ok, that's my ideal away line up!!!! Many must agree with this???!!! :bluescarf:

flat 4-4-2 is not used much anymore on a higher level. all the big team thats won major titles have either used 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3, formations he would fit into
daehli won't play as a winger for slade because slade likes a classic winger, but again the major teams usually play with inverted wingers who have more strings to their bow. i.e they are playmakers too.
he is a modern player, will do well with a progressive manager, who knows what they are doing.

The lad is by far our best footballer. The championship doesn't suit him. He is a refined footballer not a kick chase british player. The lad is a kid and needs time. I think his thought process is a few steps in front of most of our lads and that doesn't help him as he's on his own wave length. He's obviously not strong enough yet for a full championship season but how many Norwegian kids dream and train growing up for championship football.

it might be he has to go abroad, Spain and italy with teams that pass and move will show that it's British football that's lagging behind not this kid.

if he was fit he'd be the first name on the team sheet if i was manager. more talent in his little finger than most players in our squad.

realistically i think he'd be wise to take playing every week here in the championship, even if its just for a year, rather than sitting on the bench at PL level.

He doesnt fit into Slades rigid 4-4-2.
