I agree that the captain must be an outfield player ..... trouble is at the mo he has to be somebody who can guarantee , when fit , to be selected for every game . How many of current squad fit that bill ? Gunnar is captain of Iceland and I would agree there aslong as his form means he will play every week , otherwise the only nailed in selections for me were the back 4 against Wednesday and Kenwyne Jones .

What???? He was, and is, immense!!!!

This is about Captaincy. I still think he would be the best candidate if he was not the keeper. It's a bit like having a drummer as lead singer in a rock band. It rarely works.

The decision at tre time was justified but we have more options now.

Gunnar or even Fabio could fit the bill. If Witts was on form he'd be good too but his game has not hit the heights this season.

I questioned Marshal's appointment as captain on the day that he was appointed due to the fact a goalie is too far away from the action to have an influence on players. At the time I put forward Manga as he was captain of his previous team and he us a certain pick unless injured. It needs to be someone in that position or midfield where they can influence players.

Gunnarsson is a non starter. Yes captain of his country but he is not a guaranteed start at Cardiff.

I was one of them who was all for it, but Ive been watching, I would rather an out field player.

Ive been watching Arron Gunnarson lately, I would be happy to have him as our Captain?

Arron Gunnarsson is already the Iceland captain and has played well recently. I reckon he could motivate the team.

Any suggestions :thumbright:

I've always said we were wrong regarding him being a captain. We need somebody out on the field (in my opinion) to give direction and order the lads around.

Marshall is a great goalkeeper (really the best we've had in how many years... ever?!) but not a captain, I don't think... more on that here

Never really been a fan of goalkeepers being captains. They already have to sort out the defense and try keep them in shape, organise corners and free kicks which is enough already

Totsally agree Annis. I did this post after the Middlesbrough game wanting Gunnarsson as our captain. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=147550
